Debugging segfault in foreach
Hi,
I'm using R-2.12 on a linux 64bit machine.
When I run a chunk of code inside a foreach() %do% { ...} or %dopar%
{...} (with doMC backend) I keep getting a segfault. Running the
*same* code within lapply(something, function(x) ... ) doesn't result
in any segfaults. I'll paste the output below, but I'm not sure it
would be helpful.
I'm more curious how to go about smoking

Setting up TortoiseSVN and PuTTY on Windows for r-forge.r-project.org (Was: Re: Using SVN + SSH on windows)
Here are some notes/observations I've done on my setup that works for
me. Hopefully it will be added to some r-forge documentation/wiki.
I use:
Windows Vista Business SP2 32bit
TortoiseSVN 1.6.7 (Build 18415 - 32 Bit , 2010/01/22 17:55:06)
PuTTY v0.60 (with Pageant v0.60)
I have a deprecated r-forge project ('r-oo') that I will use through
out. My r-forge username is

Installing R Packages on ubuntus
Hello,
Please I am a learner. My operating system is ubuntus and I am trying to
install raster package from R-forge site. I entered sudo apt-get install
r-base-dev on the command line and that worked fine. I then typed R at the
command line so as to run R. Inside R, I typed >
install.packages("raster",repos="http://R-Forge.R-project.org<http://r-forge.r-project.org/>")

Possible improvements/clarifications for R-forge (Was: Re: Using SVN + SSH on windows)
Hi,
first, r-forge.r-project.org is filling a need and provides a great
service to the community. Please read this thread as sincere feedback
for making it even better, not as a complaint. I fully understand
that r-forge is ran by limited resources and on a volunteer basis.
I'll list some points about r-forge that I think could be
improved/clarified. Not expecting anything, just sharing my

R-Forge > GitHub?
????? Thanks to Duncan, Lionel and Henrik for their quick replies. I
have further questions:
??? ?? ???? 1.? Will GitHub automatically transfer the commits I made
to R-Forge in the past couple of days?? R-Forge is now at Rev. 420, and
GitHub is still at 418.? Will 419 and 420 be automatically mirrored onto
"https://github.com/rforge/ecdat" sometime in the next 24 hours or so??

R-Forge > GitHub?
Hello, All:
????? What's the status and future plans for R-Forge?
????? I ask primarily because a problem I reported May 15 and 17 via
two different channels has yet to be fixed, and it prevents my
development versions of the Ecdat and Ecfun packages from building --
because the Windows version cannot find "Matrix";? see below.
Secondarily, the version of R that R-Forge

R-Forge > GitHub?
Re your point 3: Because you have managed to create a GitHub version of
your repository that is not a fork of https://github.com/rforge/ecdat, but
its own independent repository, contacting GitHub support might not be the
right way forward. Note that https://github.com/rforge is simply a
read-only mirror of the complete R-Forge repository (and at least to me it
is unclear of whether GitHub itself

Non-visible functions are asterisked
Dear R-Helpers,
I suspect I'm about to ask a FAQ, but I haven't been able to find an
answer in the FAQ, AItR or an R Site Search. When I look at the methods
of summary (below) it says, "Non-visible functions are asterisked". I
looked at the help file for summary.princomp, which did not comment on
it being non-visible. I ran its help file example, which printed visible
output. I

R-Forge?
Hello!
I have recently found RForge.net (http://www.rforge.net/) by Simon
Urbanek and found out today that the site is accepting subscriptions.
Great! However, browsing a bit on the site I found a link to another
forge: R-Forge (http://r-forge.r-project.org/).
Is/will the last one be the "offcial" forge for R packages, given that
it has domain r-project.org?

R-Forge
Hello Gregor,
Yes, R-Forge.R-project.org will be the official forge for the R
Community. But we have to fix a few things before we are going public.
If you like you can participate and help us testing. If you have a
package or a devel version of your package you're welcome to use SVN
provided by R-Forge.
For further questions please contact me or R-Forge at R-project.org.

Puppet Forge: Are my expectations misaligned?
Good Afternoon All,
I''m just pondering - I think that my expectations of the forge are not 100% aligned, or I''m still rubbish with puppet!
I imagine the forge to be used in the following scenario/way
I''m in a situation where I need to provision package X in a particular way. I fire up my terminal:
$ puppet module search packageX

r-forge build failure bafflement
I am attempting to build a package on r-forge and running into a
weird error. I have been in correspondence with the R-forge admins
and am turning to r-devel on the remote chance that someone might have
a guess as to what is going wrong or a suggestion about further
diagnostics/experiments I could try ...
The package seems to build fine on my system(s) with
R CMD build --compact-vignettes

Using SVN + SSH on windows
Hi the list,
I try to use R-Forge for developping a projet. I am using tortoise SVN
(last version) but I do not manage to Commit. I read the R-Forge user
Manual and some post on but I do not manage to find the solution. Here
is what I did:
1/ I download 'puttygen.exe'. I generate a key (256 bits).
2/ I save the private key in a file 'private.ppk' on my computer.
3/ I

I've just upgraded from R 2.12.2 to R 2.13.1. As part of my upgrade

doesn't work.

reliability of R-Forge?
How reliable is R-Forge? http://r-forge.r-project.org/
It is down now (for me). Reporting "R-Forge Could Not Connect to Database: "
I have just started to use it for a project. It has been down for
several hours (at least) on different occasions over the last couple
of days. Is that common? Will it be more stable soon?
Apologies if this is not an appropriate question for R-help.
