Regarding your distributed text mining with tm
Hello,
I had been using R for text mining already. I wanted to use R for large
scale text processing and for experiments with topic modeling. I started
reading tutorials and working on some of those. I will now put down my
understanding of each of the tools:
1) R text mining toolbox: Meant for local (client side) text processing and
it uses the XML library
2) Hive: Hadoop interative, provides the

Word missing after stemmed with Norwegian in Search::Xapian::TermGenerator
Hi all Xapian-devel,
Gist: https://gist.github.com/10d2222d8bffe8d7631d
I'm using Xapian-TermGenerator to extract Norwegian sentences to vsm
(vector space model) using TermGenerator. But when I test generating vsm
from 'Truet med ? stevne misforn?yd PC-kunde - PC-leverand?ren Asus likte
sv?rt d?rlig kundens misforn?yde leserbrev.' It doen't return 'asus' result
in vsm.

Call for contribution: the RDataMining package - an R package for data mining
Join the RDataMining project to build a comprehensive R package for data mining
http://www.rdatamining.com/package
We have started the RDataMining project on R-Forge to build an R
package for data mining. The package will provide various
functionalities for data mining, with contributions from many R users.
If you have developed or will implement any data mining algorithms in
R, please

Incomplete Output from lmer{lme4}
I'm still relatively new to R, so my apologies if this is covered
somewhere. I've been running some mixed-effect models in R using
lme{nlme}, but read in Faraway's recent book, Extending the Linear Model
with R, that lmer in package lme4 is a much improved version. I tried
using this approach, but the output for the fixed effects doesn't report
a p-value or the degrees of freedom

Integration of functions with a vector argument
Hello all,
I have a question concerning integration of a function of a multivariate argument with respect to one or more variables in r. Let us say we have a function
F <- function(x){ body of the function}
Where x is, in general, a d by 1 vector with d>1. Now I want to integrate out some of the coordinates of x, e.g. x[1] or x[2] or both of them etc. I'm well aware of how to

multivariate regression using R
Does anyone know if there is a way to run multivariate linear regression
in R? I tried using the lm function (e.g., lm(dv1, dv2~iv1+iv2+iv3),
but got error messages. Is my syntax wrong, or do I need a particular
package?
Thanks,
Jeff--

newbie questions
Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance. Since a system
administrator's work is most successful when nobody knows you've done
anything....(ugly that...you get neither raises nor equipment funding as
a result), I prefer to learn from other's experiences rather than fail
in the same pits.
We are considering a switch from UW to Dovecot, since our users persist

R on Solaris 9
I am attempting an install of R-1.7.1 on a Sun Solaris 9 box. It is a V880.
It has 8 processors at 950MHz each and 32 Gb of physical memory.
I can './configure' and after, I get the following:

R is now configured for sparc-sun-solaris2.9

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I recently upgraded from RedHat 6.2 to 7.3. I had samba running
fine so I could mount space on our windows network. Somehow this
got broken in the upgrade. My linux box is called k466a and my
username there is mcliff. On the windows network I am cliffm.
If I do
~$ smbclient -L MCBRAGG -U cliffm

log format question: resolved
It was pointed out that this information is in the --itemize-changes parameter in the man page.
I looked at the man page but missed this part. I guess it was the forest for the trees.
Thanks and it is resolved.

Confidence intervals for logistic regression
Hi,
I found myself trying to figure out the type of confidence interval used for the coefficients of the logistic regression fit by using
glm(family=binomial)...
I suspect it is Wald confidence interval but am not sure...Does anybody know?
Also, if so, how can I ask for likelihood ratio and/or score-based confidence intervals?
Yours,
Michael

Doing weird bouncing of IAX trunk calls on purpose
Ok, so this might seem weird, but hang with me on this. I have two sites, Indy and Lafayette that each have their own Asterisk server. They each have their own outside PRI line. They are also trunked internally via and IAX tunnel over a private fiber line.
I've recently been asked to have the calls incoming to Indy, forwarded to a group in Lafayette (only during the day, so can't be

I don''t think that modelling domUloader (or pygrub, for that matter) is
going to be optional for VSM 1. Do the CIM providers have any plans for
this?
Thanks.

data mining/text mining?
Dear R-user,
Could anybody tell me of the key difference between data mining and text
mining?
Please make a list for packages about data/text mining.
And give me an example of text mining with R (any relating materials
will be highly appreciated), because a vignette written by Ingo Feinerer
seems too concise for me.
Thanks

RGDAL OGRwrite question
I have a quick question: It appears that in rgdal v0.7-12 (R version
2.15.1, OSX 10.6.8) writeOGR will not write a shapefile the the
current directory. Is this correct? An earlier version of rgdal must
have allowed this because I have a older script that used to work, but
doesn't now.
So, as an example, here is what I get today:

how to easily access S-PLUS data sets in R?
Dear R-help colleagues,
Greetings! I'm interested in using some of the data sets from S-PLUS in
a class that I'm teaching on R. Our university has a license for
S-PLUS, and I recognize that data sets from S-PLUS can be individually
exported from S-PLUS and then imported into R.
Is there a more straightforward way to do this? For instance, are the
data sets from S-PLUS freely

ZIB models
I attempted to contact Drew Tyre, but the email I have for him is no
longer in service.
Hopefully someone can help.
I'm using obs.error in R to model turtle occupancy in wetlands.
I have 4 species and 20 possible patch and landscape variables, which
I've been testing in smaller groups.
> zib.out<-obs.error(y=painted,m=numvis,bp=zvars,pcovar=7)
I get the following error
