loading workspace- getting annoying
I stupidly decided to save my last workspace (a large dataset) and every
time I open R it loads it back in. Can I stop this? Also how do you clear
variables.
Thanks,
Sachin

plm issues: error for "within" or "random", but not for "pooling"
Dear all
I am working on unbalanced panel data and I can readily fit a
"pooling" model using plm(), but not a "within" or "random" model.
Reproducing the examples in vignette("plm") and in the AER package I
encountered no such issues.
##unfortunately I cannot disclose the data, and it is too big anyway

Sorting groups in bwplot chart
Hi all,
I am just curious how to sort the groups in a categorical box plot chart
bwplot
here is the example:
d<-data.frame(sample(rep(month.abb,20), 100), runif(100,1,10));
colnames(d) <- c("Month", "Value");
bwplot(d$Month ~ d$Value);
as you can see Months are not sorted alphabetically. Does anybody know ho to
sort those on the chart level?
Thank you

error using pvcm() on unbalanced panel data
Dear all
I am trying to fit Variable Coefficients Models on Unbalanced Panel
Data. I managed to fit such models on balanced panel data (the example
from the "plm" vignette), but I failed to do so on my real, unbalanced
panel data.
I can reproduce the error on a modified example from the vignette:
> require(plm)
> data("Hedonic")
> Hed <- pvcm(mv ~ crim + zn + indus

Export R generated tables and figures to MS Word
Dear Rxperts,
I am aware of Sweave that generates reports into a pdf, but do know of any
tools to generate to export to a MS Word document...
Is there a way to use R to generate and export report/publication quality
tables and figures and export them to MS word (for reporting purposes)?
Thanks so much,
Santosh

Flexible rbind
Dear All,
I am trying to create a empty structure that I want to fill gradually
through the code.
I want to use something like rbind to create the basic structure first.
I am looking for a possibility to do an rbind where the columns names
dont match fully (but the missing columns can be defaulted to either
zero or n/a) (my actual data has a lot of columns).
Please see the data frames below

removing specific rows from array
I'm attempting to create an array of treatment comparisons for modelling data generation. This involves comparison of one treatment (c2) with another (c3), relative to a common comparator (c1).
Attached code gives me the correct array but need to remove duplicates. Duplicates relate only to c2 and c3
such that I need to remove
r3 because c2 and c3 are same as r1 with c2 and c3 swapped

library XML in R version 2.15.1
Hello Rxperts..
I have a peculiar situation.. XML library is not available with R2.15.1
whereas I was able to install it with R version 2.13.1. Would highly
appreciate your suggestions. I am now trying to see if XML works with
previous versions of R.
Thanks,

"subset" or "condition" as argument to a function
Dear Rxperts!
I was wondering if it is possible to write a function which can take in
argument of a subset or condition.. Of course, I am aware of the alternate
methods like coplot, par.plot, xyplot etc... I am specifically interested in
using conditions/subsets with "plot"..
A simple fragmented example is shown here..
pltit <- function(y,x,dat,dat1,dat2,sbst) {
plot(y~x, data=dat,

Tables package - remove NAs and NaN
Dear Rxperts,
q <- data.frame(p=rep(c("A","B"),each=10,len=30),
a=rep(c(1,2,3),each=10),id=seq(30),
b=round(runif(30,10,20)),
c=round(runif(30,40,70)))
The operation below...
tabular(((p=factor(p))*(a=factor(a))+1) ~ (N = 1) + (b + c)*
(mean+sd),data=q)
yields some rows of NAs and NaN as shown below

Dear R experts,
There seems to be a problem (please see the error messages below) with the
installation of the latest version of xpose4 (version 4.2.1) with the latest
R version.(2.11.1)... I didn't face such installation problems when using
version R.2.10.1
Would really appreciate your assistance in debugging installation of xpose

Thanks again..

Correlation question (from a newbie)
Hi R-users,
Was wondering if there is a way to quickly compute correlations between
continuous variables grouped by some categorical variables?
What function do I use?
Thanks much in advance.
