Favicon.ico doesn''t show in IE 6
Hello All,
I put favicon.ico under "public" folder. Also, I put a copy into
"public/images". And I put these 2 lines in my layout file:
<link rel="icon" href="images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico"
/>
It works fine in

favicon.ico and robots.txt
Hello,
I'm running an apache 2.2 webserver on centos 5.3. I'm seeing
frequent requests for robots.txt and favicon.ico from the logs those files
should be in the document root area. What are these files, is this something
the rpm installs, or do i have to retrieve or generate them?
Thanks.
Dave.

favicon.ico placement
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/public/favicon.ico" >
This causes a routing error, and the icon doesn''t load. Should I add
something to my routes.rb file, or should I change the href in the above
link?

can i force a favicon.ico ?
lo there all,
i am running two websites on one server. Both use the same code and both
domains point to the same public folder. I use different logos by using
a session variable called session[:domain] that i find with
env_table[''HTTP_HOST'']
so anyway, both need a different icon to go in the bookmarks and url, i
know this is done with a favicon.ico, but can i force the server

favicon
im trying to figure out how to serve a favicon.ico for my app, does anyone have a line for Mongrel::Configurator? all i can see is that everyone seems to use the 404 handler...how boring..
uri "/favico", :handler => Mongrel::DirHandler.new(File.dirname(__FILE__)+"/favicon.ico") is sort of close, but it says The image ?http://m/favicon.ico? cannot be displayed, because it

Favicon?
I''m sure I''m missing something rudimentary here...
I seem to be having difficulty getting my favicon to appear. I have my
favicon.ico in the public folder. I''ve configured my route.rb to route
the intro page to my "home" controller. I''m using application.rb in my
views to template the headers and footers.
Here is the tag in my <head> in the

Better tools for authoring the view
I''m hand editing my .css and .rhtml files using SciTE and hitting
refresh in my browser to see the results - its slow going.
What tools are people using to author their .css and .rhtml files?
Thanks,
Neville

Confused about extending the login generator ''user''
I''ve been using the login generator ''out of the box'' for simple
authentication, and its been working fine.
Now I want to extend it by simply adding ''type_id'' field which links to
my ''user_types'' table, but I''m hitting:

Best practice to manage ''id'' hacking?
In my app, a user logs in [via the login generator] and has access to
details of his account, and transactions attached to his account.
This is achieved in the standard rail manner by passing the account id
or transaction id between the controller and the view.
But what is to stop someone hacking the URL or view html to access
another account id or transaction id ?
eg /account/show/46 becomes

favicon.ico (shortcut icon) & Internet Explorer 8 & rails
For all the poor programmers out there who have been scratching their
heads ...
If you do something like
<link href=''/images/UltraDedup-icon-003---16x16.ico''
rel=''shortcut icon'' type=''image/x-icon'' />
and place it immediately after the in the <head> section of a webpage
then you may experience the following bizarre behavior:

What? - 500 unless class Cart included
I have been struggling with a problem for a while, and now have a
workaround, but I want to understand if something is borked in my
config or if this is a bug.
Setup: Mac OS X 10.4.3; Ruby 1.8.2; Rails 0.14.3
Problem: When I create a brand new project, I get an HTTP 500 status.
If I add a Cart model, the 500 goes away:
$ rails test

create app/controllers

Using ez_where
Hi All,
I am trying to pass values to ez_where to construct my conditions. I
need
to know how the params need to be formated for ez_where.
My search class looks like this:
def search
@display_ad = DisplayAd.new(params[:display_ad])
cond = Caboose::EZ::Condition.new do
pub_date == ''@display_ad.pub_date''

Error with :create => true and existing index
I implemented a "reindex" command which simply creates an IndexWriter
with :create => true for a prexisting index.
The "reindexing" seems to start out ok, with several thousand docs
added, then Ferret throws an exception:
IO Error occured: couldn''t rename file "index\_0.tmp" to "index\_0.cfs":

I guess that _0.cfs is held

Ferret Win32 Gem for windows users ...
Hi and thanks for Ferret!
I''m wondering if it would be possible to create a Ferret Win32 gem which
includes the c performance code pre-compiled for those of us without a C
compiler handy ?
Zed Shaw seems to have cracked this particular nut with his Mongrel
Win32 gem.
Alternately, is there a zip of the Win32 .so Ferret needs that I could
download and manually install?
Kind Regards

Ferret 0.10.2 - Index#search_each() and :num_docs
Hi,
I seem to be having trouble getting more than 10 hits from
Index#search_each since upgrading to 0.10.2 (ie, this was working in
0.9.4). Maybe a bug, as the #search_each doesn''t seem to use the options
parameter any more ?
Thanks,
Neville

A few questions about numbers and dates
Hi,
I just noticed that Ferret seems to convert every field to a string
[ruby code appended for those interested], which has thwarted my attempt
to format Dates (to "dd/mm/yyyy") and Floats (to "n.nn") for consumption
further down the line based on the class of the field stored.
I considered pre-formatting Dates and Floats prior to indexing, which
would store the field

Trouble with "updating" a document
Hi,
I seem to be having trouble updating a doc, ie, deleting then re-adding
to the index.
The following script demonstrates my issue - I''m sure I''m missing
something obvious, but I can''t seem to find the problem. Can someone
point out where I am going wrong please ?

Neville
