fix for RMate (TextMate/E-Texteditor bundle)
Arg, I already needed to fix the bundle. If anyone downloaded it
yesterday, please update, the help index building was broken (on
Macs). Should work now.

How to shutdown macOS / mac OSX from Network UPS Tools client - NUT
Hi,
I’ve posted my question on Superuser.com but not had any replies in 2 weeks, so I guess no-one there knows anything about NUT.

kernlab - error message: array(0, c(n, p)) : 'dim' specifies too large an array
Hi,
For another trainingset I get this error message, which again is rather cryptic to me:
Setting default kernel parameters
Error in array(0, c(n, p)) : 'dim' specifies too large an array
RMate stopped at line 0 of selection
Calls: rvm ... .local -> backsolve -> as.matrix -> chol -> diag -> array
thanks for any suggestions!

Invoking host system's programs with code running under Wine
Hi everyone!
Recently I've made up my mind to code together a small plug-in for foobar2000 so it would go better with Mac OS X (Growl notifications, Adium statuses etc.). For that I need a method of running the AppleScript interpreter 'osascript' from inside the plugin. I wonder if Wine provides its own way to do that, or at least allows to call fork()?

Spotlight comments (extended attributes) are not synced
Many years ago, on OSX 10.4 I was faced with the slow update of some
Finder attributes. I was working on a script that worked in fact, but
apparently did not consistently because of the delay, a very annoying
problem tht it took time to identify. The solution that someone
suggested to me was :
osascript -e 'tell application "Finder" to update folder (Mac path to

CDR(billsec)
Hi people, when I try to get the billsec in the dialplan, it is 0... but if after that I check the database, it is right (not 0).
I'm trying to get it in the h extension, like:
exten => h,1,Noop(End)
exten => h,n,Noop(Time is ${CDR(billsec)})
....
Is it updated after the extension h is executed? In that case, how can I get the call duration in the h extension?
Thanks,
Anahi

Execution Error.
I have Wine 2000813 installed on a Mandrake10.0 Community operating system:
Each time I want to run an apps get the following message: "Unhandled page
fault on read access to 0x00000000 at adress 0x00000000. Do you wish to debug
it?" and the file manager closes by itself.
Why is that and how can be handled?
Thanks for yr help.

Problem with two subnets
Hello
A really annoying question.
I'm managing a high school network with two WinXP subnets (192.168.1.X and 192.168.3.X).
These subnets are linked by a SUSE 9.3 server with two network cards and a Samba server (version 3.0.12-5 SUSE) acting as PDC.
The /etc/smb/smb.conf has next lines:
wins support = yes
hosts allow = 192.168.3. 192.168.1. 127.0.0.1
interfaces = 192.168.3.2/24 192.168.1.2/24

Possible (or possibly painful) workaround for FreeBSD-SA-03:14.arp
Of course you should patch/upgrade, etc. A stopgap measure
could be to use static ARP for a segment. I have done this
for a long time with wireless hosts, since I'm in an urban
environment with many visible nodes, some in autos, and
ARP cache poisoning is a well-known DoS against wireless.
You may find it extremely painful and less-than-useful to
have static IP addrs, etc. for hosts.

Windows Server 2008R2 WDS workaround and pxechn.c32 status
As some have noticed, WDS (Windows Deployment Services) on Windows
Server 2008R2 can't normally be chained with pxechain.com. Some have
also noticed wdsnbp.com doing something resembling another round of
DHCP (discover/ack/request/offer). Working on pxechn.c32 I've found
the "issue" and incorporated a workaround into pxechn.c32. wdsnbp.com
issues a DHCP discover to the IP

what happened to the xlsReadWrite package
A naive question: what happened to the xlsReadWrite package?
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/xlsReadWrite/
It says that it was removed from the CRAN repository. Are there any plans
for it be available again?
Thanks,

Re: R 0.90.0 for Windows rwinst fails (for me) and workaround
hi-
I downloaded r 0.90.0 for windows and ran rwinst.exe and the base package would not install for me. I had to unzip
rw0900b1.zip and r20900b2.zip manually and then do the rest of install with rwinst. Is this due to b being replaced
by b1 and b2?

Feature request: workaround for 'Sys.timezone()' issue for German MS-Windows
Dear list,
I know this is *not* R's but Windows fault, at least for the German
version. But: `Sys.timezone()' will return with an invalid time zone.
I just wondered if there's a chance to implement an alternative,
"OS-independent" way for querying the time zone corresponding to the
country where a specific R session was launched.
I've written a post on SO where I
