Finding an order for an hclust (dendrogram) object without intersections
Hello all, I manually created an hclust object. Now I am looking to reorder the leafs so they won't intersect with each other, and would be happy for advises on how to do that. Here is an example code: #------------------------------------- a <- list() # initialize empty object # define merging pattern: # negative numbers are leaves, # positive are merged clusters (defined by row

Any functions to manipulate (merge, cut, remove) hclust objects? (maybe through phylo?)
Hello all, I'm now working with hclust objects and was hoping to perform some basic editing on them like: - Joining = the merging of two hclust objects (so they will share one root) - Splicing = So to cut/extract a branch out of an hclust object - that by itself will be an hclust object. I noticed I could extract one element of an hclust object by turning it into a dendrogram,

How to: Compare Two dendrograms (Hierarchical Clusterings) ?
Hello all, I wish to compare two dendrograms (representing Hierarchical Clusterings). My problems are several: 1) how do I manually create a dendrogram object ? That is, how can I reconstruct it as an "hclust" object that creates such a dendrogram, when all I have is the dendrogram image (but don't have the underlaying distance matrix that produced it) ? I see that there is a

Adding a "description" meta-tag to the R homepage (bump)
Hello dear R-devel, I am allowing myself to bump this issue again (half a year later) - I think that the www.r-project.org website could benefit from having a description meta-tag. Capturing R console output into a file (sink+savehistory ??)
After reading more, I understand I didn't formulate my last question correctly, so please allow me to rephrase: What I am looking for is a way to save the R console session output. That is, a command that would combine the results of using: ?sink # And ?savehistory My motivation for this is that doing it will allow someone who is a blind user of R to be able to easily export his results to

Hello dear R-help mailing list. I wish to be able to have htmlParse work well with Hebrew, but it keeps to scramble the Hebrew text in pages I feed into it. For example: # why can't I parse the Hebrew correctly? library(RCurl) library(XML) u = "http://humus101.com/?p=2737" a = getURL(u) a # Here - the hebrew is fine. a2 <- htmlParse(a) a2 # Here it is a mess...
