Convince me to buy TextMate!
I got a Powerbook recently and am debating buying TextMate. I installed the trial and have checked it out, but don''t see what''s so great about it. AFAICS it''s the Ruby and Rails macros for expansion and other stuff that might be it. Other than that, TextMate seems like a pretty basic editor. I currently use PSPad and Editplus, and I could probably get/make macros

[ADV] James Edward Gray's TEXTMATE book now in beta
Folks: Sorry for the commercial, but I''m excited about this one. I''ve been using TextMate for most of my work for a year now---if you''re on a Mac, it really is the best tool for writing Rails code. So when James Edward Gray II offered to write a book on TextMate, I jumped at it. James helps maintain the Ruby support in TextMate, and this knowledge comes

recompiled mod_perl insists on old perl dependency
Hello, In order to overcome a known performance bug in perl-5.8.8-10 in centos 5 (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=196836) I downloaded the perl package from fedora 8 (http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/source/SRPMS/perl-5.8.8-30.fc8.src.rpm) and mod_perl

mod_perl and httpd2
I've got httpd and mod_perl installed, but I seem to have an application that requires part of mod_perl that doesn't seem to be properly installed into perl, notably, the 'Apache' portion. To 'fix' this, cpan would like to install either mod_perl-1.29, or alternatively to install mod_perl-2.0.2. 1.29 doesn't seem smart, and 2.0.2 absolutely will not install over the

Apache with mod_perl rpm query..
Any repository maintaining Apache rpm with mod_perl for CentOS? How do I maintain rpm installs from repos and also maintain ability to use various mods that I would like to use? Or do I have to ./configure ;-) With regards. Sanjay.

TextMate Sidebar
Hey David, I just watched the RubyConf recording of your RSpec session and noticed that you''re using a modified version of TextMate that uses a sidebar instead of a project drawer. Where did you find that mod? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/rspec-users/attachments/20071207/c900e1bc/attachment.html

Textmate project drawer: is there a Windows alternative?
I was reading about the project drawer feature in Textmate, which is Mac only. Is there a similar feature in a Windows based text editor that works with R. This feature sounds really useful. Thanks, Graham [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

TextMate for Rails development -- why?
Greetings, I am curious, I see quite a few references to using TextMate for rails development. I downloaded TextMate and used it for 30 days. I do not see what everyone is raving about. Snipplets are nice, but other editors do the same thing, some with much more power. Can anyone tell me what makes people draw to TextMate? Maybe I am missing the whole reason, I''d really like to

Better tools for authoring the view
I''m hand editing my .css and .rhtml files using SciTE and hitting refresh in my browser to see the results - its slow going. What tools are people using to author their .css and .rhtml files?
