about different bandwidths in one graph
Thank you in advance. Now I want to make comparison of the different bandwidth h in a normal distribution graph. This is the table of bandwidth h: thumb rule (normal)--0.00205; thumb rule(Epanech.)--0.00452; Plug-in (normal)--0.0009; Plug-in(Epanech.)--0.002. this is the condition: N=1010 data sample is from normal distribution N(0,0.0077^2). The grid points are taken to be [-0.05,0.05] and

missing values in party::ctree
After ctree builds a tree, how would I determine the direction missing values follow by examining the BinaryTree-class object? For instance in the example below Bare.nuclei has 16 missing values and is used for the first split, but the missing values are not listed in either set of factors. (I have the same question for missing values among numeric [non-factor] values, but I assume the answer

smv() in "e1071" and the BreastCancer data from "mlbench"
R-help, I am trying to perform a basic anlaysis of the BreastCancer data from "mlbench" using the svm() function in "e1071". I use the following code library("e1071") library("mlbench") data(BreastCancer) BC <- subset(BreastCancer, select=-Id) pairs(BC) model <- svm(Class ~ ., data=BC, cross=10) ## plot(model, BC, ) tobj <- tune.svm(Class ~ .,

density(kernel = "cosine") .. the `wrong cosine' ..
I'm in teaching mode, kernel densities. {History: density() was newly introduced in version 0.15, 19 Dec 1996; most probably by Ross or Robert } When I was telling the students about different kernels (and why their choice is not so important, and "equivalent bandwidths" etc,etc) I wondered about the "Cosine" in my teaching notes which is defined there as k(x)

how to use tune.knn() for dataset with missing values
Hi Everybody, i again have the problem in using tune.knn(), its giving an error saying missing values are not allowed.... again here is the script for BreastCancer Data, library(e1071) library(mda) trdata<-data.frame(train,row.names=NULL) attach(trdata) xtr <- subset(trdata, select = -Class) ytr <- Class bestpara <-tune.knn(xtr,ytr, k = 1:25, tunecontrol = tune.control(sampling

How to do knn regression
How can I do a simple k nearest neighbor regression in R? My training data have 1 predictor and 1 outcome, both are numeric. I also need to use FPE and SC to find the optimal model. I know there is knn() in class package, but it's for knn classification. I also find a kknn package. What function should I use? Thanks in advance! Menghui

Loading of namespace on load of .Rdata (was strange behaviour of load)
Last week Giovanni Parrinello posted a message asking why various packages were loaded when he loaded an .Rdata file. Brian Ripley replied saying he thought it was because the saved workspace contained a reference to the namespace of ipred. (Correspondence copied below). This begs the question: how did the reference to the namespace of ipred come to be in the .Rdata file? Brian did say it is

[ovirt-users] ovirt 4.1 hosted engine hyper converged on glusterfs 3.8.10 : "engine" storage domain alway complain about "unsynced" elements
These errors are because not having glusternw assigned to the correct interface. Once you attach that these errors should go away. This has nothing to do with the problem you are seeing. sahina any idea about engine not showing the correct volume info ? odd behaviour in quantreg::rq
Hi, I am trying to use quantile regression to perform weighted-comparisons of the median across groups. This works most of the time, however I am seeing some odd output in summary(rq()): Call: rq(formula = sand ~ method, tau = 0.5, data = x, weights = area_fraction) Coefficients: Value Std. How automatic Y on install y/n prompts?
You are right, maintainer does keep a list of model's packages. So how do I use a variable instead of $adaboost$? getModelInfo()$adaboost$library Also, server not found: http://rwiki.sciviews.org/doku.php?id=getting-started:reference-cards:getting-help On Tue, Aug 1, 2017 at 11:46 AM, Bert Gunter <bgunter.4567 at gmail.com> wrote: > I have provided you all the

problem with rfImpute (package randomForest)
Hello everybody, this is my first request about R so I am sorry if I send it to a bad mail or if I am not very clear. So my problem is about the use of rfImpute from randomForest package. I am interested in imputations of missing values and I read that randomForest can make it. So i write the following code : set.seed(100); library(mlbench) library(randomForest) data(BreastCancer)

R quantreg anova: How to change summary se-type
He folks=) I want to check whether a coefficient has an impact on a quantile regression (by applying the sup-wald test for a given quantile range [0.05,0.95]. Therefore I am doing the following calculations: a=0; for (i in 5:95/100){ fitrestricted=rq(Y~X1+X2,tau=i) tifunrestrited=rq(Y~X1+X2+X3,tau=i) a[i]=anova(fitrestricted,fitunrestricted)$table$Tn) #gives the Test-Value } supW=max(a) As anova

You should read the section on Indexing in the Introduction to R document that comes with R, regarding $ and `[[`. -- Sent from my phone. Please excuse my brevity. Security update missing - kernel-2.6.18-128.el5
Please, do not delay this "Important" multiple security update. See https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-0225.html for more info. This update is "5.3" kernel but has been released as security update too. RHN pushed this kernel one day ahead of rest of 5.3 packages (on my servers). RH maintains API and ABI (!) compatibility so there is no problem to use this kernel

Loading of namespace on load of .Rdata (was strange behaviourof load)
Apologies - I was not trying to correct you Brian, but to explore how the situation could arise. I'm sure you had a good idea why the namespace (or a reference to it) had been saved, but this was not clear to me and I thought, possibly not to others either. Thanks for putting me right over parent environments vs. enclosures - again I was not trying to correct you with the point I made there,

Null space (or kernel) and image of a matrix
Hello! Does anyone now if there exist a function that would compute a "null space" (or "kernel" - "Ker") of a matrix and maybe also one that would compute an "image" ("Im") of a matrix. I tried R-site search and google, However I found notnihg useful! Thanks for any sugestions! I am also not sure what an "image" of a matrix is, so

loess' robustness weights in loess
hi! i want to change the "robustness weights" used by loess. these are described on page 316 of chambers and hastie's "statistical models in S" book as r_i = B(e_i,6m) where B is tukey's biweight function, e_i are the residulas, and m is the median average distance from 0 of the residuals. i want to change 6m to, say, 3m. is there a way to do this? i cant
