questions regarding stat_smooth in ggplot area plot
Hello,
I drew a simple area plot using ggplot2 using

library(ggplot2)
ggplot() +
layer(
data = set, mapping = aes(x = time, y = hours),
geom = "area", stat="smooth", color="red"

I am trying to run some plots on data, but when loading he CSV data
file R is stopping and I am getting an out of memory error.
Anyway to tweak this somehow to get it to run?

qplot, stacked area, own colourscheme
Dear list,
I would like to apply my own colours to a stacked area plot, done with

What do I have so far (I am dealing with the development of cover of

[LLVMdev] FP problems in different backends?
Hi,
Here is yet another bug/miscompilation I've found while testing my
register allocator.
The compilation of the attached BC file fails on multiple backends, namely:
ia64, mips, mipsel, alpha
The failures are different from backend to backend (wrong register
classes, wrong operand types, etc). Please, just try to compile using
the attached BC file. I guess, it is related to the FP

Followup: copy-paste graphics from R to Word on Mac OS X
After trying numerous options, I'm just about at my wits end.
The most frequent suggestion was to export to a postscript or PDF file
and import that into Word.
However, no matter what I did or how I did it, the results were
extraordinarily ugly and somewhat time-consuming.
What I've tried so far:
1. Copy and paste from the R graphics output window into Word (in Mac
OS X), this is

color blending and transparency
I am using ggplot and posted this question at that helplist. It was
suggested that I try a more general R-help list for a possible solution to
this problem.
Within ggplot, I am using geom_area with red and blue and expect where they
overlap should be purple. But instead, it's dark red.
Playing with alpha and with different colors doesn't seem to solve the
problem.
Here's a very

Multiple area plots to share the same x-axis
Hello,
I asked a similar question before but in an existing thread. I am not sure
if it is proper etiquette to repost a similar question as a new tread, I
think in this case, it might be because this way more people can see it and
perhaps learn from it. (Also, part of the existing thread became private)
I want to know how to plot multiple ggplot area plots on top of one another
so that the same

ggplot2 stacked line plot
Hi all,
I have been hunting around for hours trying to figure out how to
generate a stacked line chart using ggplot2. This type of chart can be
generated in excel 2007 by selecting: Chart type > Line > Stacked
line. I can generate a stacked area chart using the following code:
p <- ggplot2(~, aes(x = ~, y = ~, colour = Type)) +
geom_area(aes(position = 'stack', fill = Type))

Pretty onscreen plots?
I'm looking for ideas for creating high-quality plots for use in projected
presentations (powerpoint, etc) --- ideally high-quality png, jpg, bmp.
The graphics produced using the postscript device look very good. Those
generated with win.graph(), png are plagued by the jaggy lines.
So far, the only way I can use the postscript plots in my presentations is
using separate screen capture

color under lm line
Hi,
I would like to add a color under a lm line and not the plotted line. Is
this possible? In the example, I do not want the area under the curve red,
but rather under the llm line.
x=seq(0,5,len=100)
y=-(x-5)^2
llm<-lm(y~x)
plot(x,y)
polygon(c(x,x[length(x)]), c(y, y[1]), col='red')
abline(llm)

Matrix-vector multiplication without loops
Hi,
I am trying to do the following computation:
p <- rep(0, n)
coef <- runif(K+1)
U <- matrix(runif(n*(2*K+1)), n, 2*K+1)
for (i in 0:K){
for (j in 0:K){
p <- p + coef[i+1]* coef[j+1] * U[,i+j+1]
} }
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to perform this computation
efficiently without the "for" loops?
Thank

conditionally merging adjacent rows in a data frame
Hi, I have a data frame and want to merge adjacent rows if some condition is
met. There's an obvious solution using a loop but it is prohibitively slow
because my data frame is large. Is there an efficient canonical solution for
that?

logistic mixed effects models with lmer
I have a question about some strange results I get when using lmer to
build a logistic mixed effects model. I have a data set of about 30k
points, and I'm trying to do backwards selection to reduce the number
of fixed effects in my model. I've got 3 crossed random effects and
about 20 or so fixed effects. At a certain point, I get a model (m17)
where the fixed effects are like this

Copy-paste graphics from R to Word on Mac OS X
Greetings:
I'm (very) new to R.
One of the features of R that I really like is R's ability to quickly
generate very good looking graphics. However, I've noticed that when I
attempt to copy and paste the graphs from the R graphics output window
into Word (in Mac OS X), the resulting picture is very jaggy.
I'm aware of the various options such as dev2bitmap, but I'd

Vectorization of duration of the game in the gambler ruin's problem
Hey fellas:
In the context of the gambler's ruin problem, the following R code obtains the mean duration of the game, in turns:

# initial.capital is a constant, an arbitrary positive integer between, and not including
# 0 and total.capital
# p is the probability of winning 1$ on each turn
# 1-p is the probability of loosing 1$
