Error in eco-model
Hello, I am working on a paper of ecological modelling in R. I have made a Lotka Volterra model for tree animal species. I was trying to get the model in R but there are some errors. Since i am not so experienced with R i can't find the bugs in my script. I hope if there is someone who can help me handle this problem. From RailsConf: New Open Source Gems to manage large Rails "eco-systems"
Dear All - At the end of our RailsConf Speech on how we built a maintainable yet complex rails system (slides here: http://en.oreilly.com/rails2010/public/schedule/detail/14302), there was a large demand for us to open source our methods. As such, we are pleased to announce eco_apps 0.1. (http:// www.github.com/idapted/eco_apps) What it does: eco_apps allow you to develop an application

creating a world map of eco-climatic zones
Hello R users: I would like to produce a world map with countries colored according to whether they fall into one of 7 eco-climatic zones. For simplicity, each country is allocated to exactly 1 eco-climatic zone. For this purpose I have looked at the map and mapdata packages, which contain world maps composed of polygons (1 for each country, it seems). Each of the polygons can be referred to by a

Sprockets, JST, Eco and escaping
While it was a good move from Rails part to escape ERB <%= %> tags by default, it doesn''t seem to happen to Sprockets as well. The strange bit is that according to Sprockets documentation, it would be just a matter of naming your template as .jst.eco to enable Eco: https://github.com/sstephenson/sprockets#javascript-templating-with-ejs-and-eco Then, extracted from Eco

Hello! I'm not a very happy owner of "Designed in Italy and manufactured in China" Tecnoware ECO LCD 650 UPS. Plan was to use it with FreeNAS 8 on HP Microserver... But this plan gone bad. TrippLite Eco Series UPS
I purchased a TrippLite ECO550UPS from Amazon a few days ago thinking I was going to use it for my Windows Media Center HTPC. I've since changed my mind and decided to use Mythbuntu but it I can't get my UPS working with nut. I've tried all of the tripplite drivers and the usbhid-ups driver. The tripplite_usb and usbhid_ups output is listed below. The tripplite and tripplitesu drivers

Re: [R] R - S compatibility table (fwd)
I appreciate Brian and Martin's answers -- and I certainly don't spend as much time & energy maintaining and answering questions about R as they do -- *but* it does seem to me that it would make a number of new (switching) user's lives easier if there were a succinct list of these differences, with a disclaimer ... I would be willing to maintain such a list, but since I

[R] besselK
[cc'ing to R-devel] It's moderately obscure to me too, but ... There are two sets of bessel code in the package, one in C++ from Chris Bond and the other in FORTRAN from Netlib (I think). The FORTRAN code is the one that's giving trouble, you might try just removing the FORTRAN code from the src directory and trying again.

last.warning and Sweave?
Sweave does something clever with warnings, which I have so far been unable to figure out. There are a couple of threads on the list about this, but the best in here is a hack to redirect all the output and stick it back in. http://www.nabble.com/-R--Sweave-and-warning-messages-td7759353.html#a7759353

mle
I'm very excited by the new mle package now incorporated in stats4. If possible, I'd like to help develop it. In the past I wrote a similar package (mleprof, available from http://www.zoo.ufl.edu/bolker/R/src), and would like to see if there's anything that my package does that I could contribute (in particular, I'd like to make sure that the code is as robust as possible in

methods not found inside function?
I am currently attempting to hack the recently featured profileModels package so that it can handle models generated by the lme4 (mixed models) package. I'm getting really confused by different behavior of summary() before and after loading the lme4 package, and inside and outside the profileMethod() function. The basic behavior is that with lme4 loaded, and "obj" a fitted object

Florida mirror (cran.hostingzero.net) dead?
The CRAN host in Tampa, FL (cran.hostingzero.net) isn't responding, and hasn't responded in quite a while -- at least problems were reported more than a year ago (Oct 2007) http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/116706.html although someone apparently succeeded in July 2008 http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/137451.html Perhaps it's just flaky, and not
