options(width=100) ignored on start-up: bug or feature?
Dear developers
I've tried this a couple of days ago on r-help, unfortunately with no
feedback. Could you please take a look and confirm whether it's a bug,
feature, or bad eye-sight when reading Help:
Is it normal that R ignores options("width"=100) at start-up? Although

Rcmdr -> doItAndPrint -> summary method of S4-class object not in Rcmdr window but R Console
Dear list member,
John Fox proposed to me posting this problem to R-Help:
I have written a function suited for Rcmdr and included this in a R-file
located in Rcmdr/etc as well as an augmented `Rcmdr-menus.txt'.
Now, I am faced with the following problem:
method show() of a S4-class object works flawlessly, that is `doItAndPrint'

Rcmdr plugins produce error
I recently updated all my plugins, and for the fun of it, I added ALL the Rcmdr Plugins to my collection to see what functionality might exist. I started Rcmdr and loaded ALL the available Plugins from to the Rcdmdr Tools menu.
To my suprise Rcmdr produced a number of warnings and finally an error. The error suggests that some of the extensions are incompatable with each other because of menu

really dumb question with building/creating a new package.
r-package-devel is probably a better place to post this, especially if
you do not get a satisfactory reply here. This list is about R
programming, as you presumably know; your query is not.

Dear R People:
I just installed R-2.10.0 on Karmic Koala Ubuntu, via the sudo apt-get

However, when I try to install an Rcmdr Plugin package, I get the following:

Literature analysis
Dear all,
i am new in R. I am writing a review paper about batteries. However, i
am interested in analyzing all the papers by keywords, author,
references and year.
This could be done by "refviz" a software, which is only running on
windows machines and which is not free.
So my question to you is, is it somehow possible to write a script that
can do all of this work?
And if yes, with

cannot use package RcmdrPlugin.plotByGroup
Dear Lu Wei,
I'm the author of the Rcmdr package but not of RcmdrPlugin.plotByGroup, so if there really is a problem -- which isn't apparent from your message -- then you may wish to contact the package author.
First, as a general matter, menu items in the Rcmdr are grayed out if they're inappropriate in the current context. Rcmdr plug-in authors can use the same mechanism. So, for

Dear all,
I am using the function ?unfold? from the ?RcmdrPlugin.survival? to convert
my time-varying covariates dataset from wide to long. I managed to have it
working for my data.
However, the problem I have is that the observations after an event, won?t
be dropped from the dataset. For example, see the dataframe below: the event
occurs at 1.2 (event.time=1), but the 1.3 to 1.6 will remain in

'tcltk' freezes related to event-loops (PR#14188)
This report is related to the bug `'tcltk' crashes related to

of the command sequence.

With the following sequence I get sporadic freezes of tcltk.

normal mixture EM not working?
Hi,
I am currently working on fitting a mixture density to financial data.
I have the following data:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=00083355432555420222
I want to fit a mixture density of two normal distributions.
I have the formula:
f(l)=πϕ(l;μ1,σ21)+(1−π)ϕ(l;μ2,σ22)
my R code is:
normalmix<-normalmixEM(dat,k=2,fast=TRUE)
pi<-normalmix$lambda[1]
mu1<-normalmix$mu[1]
