Student Distribution and Funtion qt
Hello,
I am trying to calculate and plot mean and confidence intervall for a set of data. This is the code that I am currently using:
means <- sapply(data, mean, na.rm=TRUE)
n <- sapply(data,length)
stdev <- sqrt(sapply(data, var, na.rm=TRUE))
ciw <- qt(0.98, n) * stdev / sqrt(n)
par(mgp=c(2,0.6,0), las=2, fin=c(7,3), mai=c(1,0.5,0.2,0.2), cex=0.8)
plotCI(x=means, uiw=ciw,

how to choose dates data?
i have converted my data into date format like below:
> day=as.Date(originaldate,"%m/%d/%Y")
> day[1:5]
[1] "2008-04-12" "2011-07-02" "2011-09-02" "2008-04-12" "2008-04-12"
I wish to select only those observations from 2007 to 2009, how can I

Interpreting factor*numeric interaction coefficients
Dear all,
I am a relative novice with R, so please forgive any terrible errors...
I am working with a GLM that describes a response variable as a function of
a categorical variable with three levels and a continuous variable. These
two predictor variables are believed to interact.
An example of such a model follows at the bottom of this message, but here
is a section of its summary table:

arrange data for simple regression analysis
Hello, I want to arrange data from a table to perform a simple
regression. All the examples I saw deal with paired data, e.g. 'x' and
'y' have the same dimensions (e.g. 5 values for x and 5 for y).
But I have more than one 'y' for each 'x' value, e.g. the data file
has a x = 0, 30, 60, and 120 columns. And for each of them I have
several replicate responses (e.g.

function used to smooth the scatter plot and generate a density map
Dear R-helpers,
I want to smooth a scatter plot (or 2d histogram) to generate the density
map using a squared Euclidean kernel function, with each data point
contributing a density of 1/(r*r + k) to each cell on the heatmap, where
r*r?was the squared Euclidean distance between the coordinates of the cell
and the coordinates of the point, and k was a constant smoothing factor.
There is figure to

How to estimate the parameters in a bivariate weibull distribution?
Hi,Dear all R experts,
As far as I know, fitdistr() is only to estimate the parameters in univariate distributions. I have a set of data (x,y) and I assume it follows a bivariate weibull distribution. Could someone tell me a function in R that is suitable for parameter estimation in multivariate cases? Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
YAN

reading a character translation table into R
I have a txt file (attached) that defines equivalents among characters
in latin1 (or iso-8859-1), numeric &#xxx; codes, HTML entities
and latex equivalents. A portion of the file is shown inline below, but
may not be rendered well in this email.
I'd like to read this into R to use as a character translation table,
but am stuck on two things:
- The 5 fields in the file are

Vectorize rearrangement within each column
Consider a matrix like
> ma = matrix(10:15, nr = 3)
> ma

[3,] 12 15
I want to rearrange each column according to row indexes (1 to 3)
given in another matrix, as in
> idx = matrix(c(1,3,2, 2,3,1), nr = 3)
> idx
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 1 2
[2,] 3 3
[3,] 2 1

scatterplot3d
Dear R-help,
I am having trouble with your scatterplot3d program. For help with this
problem I was directed to your address by Martin Maechler at "
r-core-bounces at r-project.org." I'm also sending a CC to "
r-core-owner at r-project.org" as I'm not yet certain of the proper address to
use for this.
I have R version 2.8.1 and have downloaded 'scatterplot3d.'

[PATCH] pciback: restore PCI BARs on D3->D0 transition
Ever since xen-unstable cset 14308 ("pci back: Fix registration of of
filters on subsections of config space") I''ve been getting an MCA on the
*2nd* boot of a driver domain using an e1000 NIC. Cset 14308 allowed
the proper setup of the PM control registers, so the NIC is put in the
D3 power state when the driver domain shuts down. Unfortunately,

Correlation Matrix with a Covariate
R Help -
I'm trying to run a correlation matrix with a covariate of "age" and will
at some point will also want to covary other variables concurrently.
I'm using the "psych" package and have tried other methods such as writing
a loop to extract semi-partial correlations, but it does not seem to be
working. How can I accomplish this?

Rename BTRfs to MuchSlowerFS ?
Hi list,
I don''t trust theoretical benchmarks that much and prefer "real-life
benchs" on the occasion, so here''s mine:
Given 4 laptops, the most powerful of which was running BTRFS and the
others ext3 or ext4, all machines running Ubuntu 11.04 Natty 32-bit with
a stock Ubuntu 2.6.38-11 kernel, all machines were given the following
