plotting least-squares residuals against x-axis
Hi,
I want to plot the residuals of a least-squares regression.
plot(lm(y~x), which=1)
does this, but it plots the y-axis of my data on the x-axis of the
residuals plot. That is, it plots the residual for each y-value in the
data. Can I instead use the x-axis of my data as the x-axis of the
residuals plot, showing the residual for a given x?
Thanks!

Cohen's Kappa for beginners
Hi,
I've got two vectors with ratings from two coders, like this:
x<-c("red", "yellow", "blue", "red") #coder number 1
y<-c("red", "blue", "blue", "red") #coder number 2
I want to find Cohen's Kappa using the wkappa function in the psych
package. The only example in the docs is using a matrix, which

0.2 3
0.1 2
0.3 1
0.4 4
0.4 4
0.4 4
0.4 4
0.2 3
where myfreq is frequency of its corresponding observation. How to do that?

methodology seems sound. Their conclusion is that retail VOIP services

H.264 *Not Patented*
The H.264 codec patent by Qualcomm has been ruled invalid by a San
Diego Federal jury:

That means that H.264 codecs can now be written, distributed and revised
freely under any license their authors choose, including GPL, public
domain, or any other, and $free now that royalties are no longer
required.
How does H.264

Asterisk Viruses?
The Skype network is circulating a virus that has appeared there
before:
http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=198500135 . The virus sends a URL to other Skype users in the infected user's contacts, which the target Skype displays as clickable. Clicking downloads the virus. Asterisk supports features like these, in combination with certain clients (which aren't

Many of you would be already aware of this. It mentions flac also. i feel it

Windows-style quota / "profile size too big" warning?
With Windows domain controllers with when the profile size is too big
(and there are limits appled), when the user logs out, he/she gets a
warning, and a list of files, sorted from the biggest, to the smallest.
To get an idea how it looks like, here's a screenshot:

Quick question on merging two time-series of different frequencies
Hi,
A quick beginner's question. I have two time series, A with
daily data, and another B with data at varying frequencies, but mostly
annual. Both the series are sorted ascending.
I need to merge these two series together in the following way: For any
entry of A, the lookup should match with B until we find an entry of B
that's larger than A's.
For all A[i], i = 1,...,N and B[j],

Windows API opens up???
Any thoughts on articles like this one -
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/21/microsoft_goes_open/. This mentions the Vista API, but I wonder about earlier API's.
I also saw something the other day about source code for .Net being released as a "learning tool".
Of course, all of this is in a bid to get Office XML approved as an ISO standard. They don't just give stuff away
