plotmath: how to create a vector of expressions?
Dear expeRts, I would like to use LaTeX-like symbols in keys via plotmath. Below is a minimal example. I get: Error in fun(key = list(x = 0.5, y = 0.8, text = list(list(expression(paste("(", : first component of text must be vector of labels What's wrong? How can I create the required vector (of expressions)? Cheers, Marius library(lattice) val <- matrix(1, nrow = 10, ncol

wmf on Unix?
libEMF (http://sourceforge.net/projects/libemf/) looks like it may be the solution to generating WMF/EMF files on Unix. It's a general-purpose (LGPL) library that implements the EMF API ... (I was originally going to write to the list to ask why small circles appear to be filled (in src/gnuwin32/graphapp/gdraw.c) by generating a series of rectangles rather than using some kind of

The best way to end up with WMF files
Hi all I am doing some stats work for a group of biologists who require windows metafiles (*.wmf) for their publications. To create these, I appear to have two choices: 1. Restart my machine in Windows and use savePlot 2. Keep my machine in linux, save as another format, then convert. I'd rather stay in linux; but how do I get wmf files? I looked at using ImageMagick's convert,

Lattice + Word: Changing .wmf files to .pdf files
My apriori apologies if this is felt to be the wrong list for this issue - although it starts with R, it's a combination of programs that creates the problem. Currently we are using windows metafile format for in-text tables for reports created in Word. However, we've discovered some artifactual lines being created in our final output once the Word document is changed to PDF. The process

OT: PSTOWMF
Hallo, I've produced via R-0.62 several Life-tables 50*6 (mfrow=c(2,3)) as postscriptgraphs. The phd student, who asked for this, use word for windows--therefore i converted the whole stuff with pstoimg to gifs. Unlikly the result is not sufficient (I was told)... Is there a tool to convert ps to wmf/emf ? I looked for it but haven't found anything... Thanks for an answer Peter

savePlot() no longer automatically adds an extension to the filename.
Plaintive squeak: Why the change? Some OS's and desktops use the extension, so forgetting it causes trouble. The new default filename keeps a filetype (as before) but the user now has to type a filetype twice (once as the type, once as extension) to get the same effect fo rtheir own filenames. And the extension isn't then checked for consistency with valid file types, so it can be

Help with evaluation of expressions
Hello all: I have searched through the help files and I have been unsuccessful in solving this problem. I am trying to create a small wrapper function that will go around a call to a plot function and create a windows metafile in the directory and also write the name of the file to a text file. The purpose is to efficiently bring a large number of plots into powerpoint. I am using

postscript preview

For scaling within my doco I want some vector type graphics. win.metafile doesn't seem to be supported on redhat which gives me postscript. postscript is ideal but doesn't contain a preview so I

Re: win.metafiles in linux and R
I posted a similar query some months ago. Some people answered stating that win.metafiles were not available for R in linux. However, I was suggested to use the package RSvgDevice, which allows transforming any graphic device into Scalable Vector Graphics format, this file can then be opened with sodipodi, and really impresive stuff can be achieved. I also noticed that OpenOffice for linux has an

javascript_tag replacing whitespaces w/ '%20'
javascript_tag replacing whitespaces w/ ''%20'' Hello, I have a form that tests if a title has been changed since the page was loaded and the page has been submitted. If the page title has been changed then a confirm box will ask if the user wants to have the title changed. The problem is if the person hits cancel, all white spaces in the title get replaced w/

[PATCH node] iscsi remote root basework This lays most of the groundwork for iscsi installation and configuration. At this time configuring iscsi is disabled due to multiple issues with dependent pieces.
- dracut does not currently support booting a dmsquash file system on an iscsiroot - can not be configured in standalone mode since networking is not up, although works fine if ovirt-config-setup is run once booted. PowerPoint
Dear All, I am looking for the best way to use graphs from R (like xyplot, curve ...) for a presentation with powerpoint. I used to save my plot as pdf and after to copy them as image in powerpoint but the quality is not optimal by so doing. Another completely independent question is the following: when I use "main" in the xyplot, the main title is very close to my plot,

Options for generating editable figures?
Hello all, I'm using R to produce figures for people who want to be able to edit the figures directly, and who use PowerPoint a lot. I use a Mac, and I'd appreciate any advice about how to approach this. Here's what I've come up with so far: 1) I can use xfig() and then ask them to install Inkscape to edit the files. Downsides are no transparency and a learning curve with

location of Tisean executables when using RTisean and jumping between linux and windows
Hi, I wonder if someone could help. I needed to transfer (copy) a workspace file that had been generated in linux (R 2.11) to windows running the same version of R 2.11 (but of course windows binary). Usually, there is no problem in doing this and all objects work as expected. I am often doing this to be able to produce wmf or emf graphic files that I need. This time I had some spectra that I
