OpenMP problem with 64-bit Rtools
I've been getting pqR to work on windows systems, and in the process have discovered various problems with R core versions of R and with Rtools. One is with the implementation of OpenMP in 64-bit Rtools. This problem is in Rtools215 and Rtools33, and presumably all the ones in between. You can see the problem with the following test program: #include <stdio.h> #include <omp.h>

Windows Check/Build Configuration
I recently submitted a package on CRAN. When I went to update the package, I tried to do the check/build procedures on a system with Windows XP, using the recommended R-tools available from Dr. Ripley (Rtools29). Everything works fine in the check and build process except under Windows XP the pdf manual is not generated? The check procedure does, in fact, check the read files for correct syntax

Missing libpthread in RTools
It appears that Mingw gcc included in RTools is missing a dependent library. If I compile a program with '-lgomp' switch (for OpenMP support), I get a errors about undefined references to functions like '_imp__pthread_mutex_destroy'. Adding the '-static' switch, I get the following error: c:/rtools/mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.5.0/../../../../mingw32/bin/ld.exe:

Updated Windows toolchain
An updated toolchain is now being used for Windows' builds of R-devel: details are in the R-admin manual and at http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ and http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ Both 32- and 64-bit parts of the toolchain use v2.0.1 of the Mingw-w64 project's runtime and a beta of gcc 4.5.4: the Mingw.org project's builds are no longer used. This should mean that
