Sorting alphanumerically
I'm trying to sort a DATAFRAME by a column "ID" that contains
alphanumeric data. Specifically,"ID" contains integers all preceeded
by the character "g" as in:
g1, g6, g3, g19, g100, g2, g39
I am using the following code:
DATAFRAME=DATAFRAME[order(DATAFRAME1$ID),]
and was hoping it would sort the dataframe by ID in the following manner
g1, g2, g3, g6, g19,

Error using the mi package
I'm trying to impute data using the mi package, but after running
through almost the entire first round of imputations (which takes
quite a while), it throws this error (I'll include the whole output
prior to the error for context). Does anyone know what is causing it,
or how I can fix it?
More specifically, how can I tell what is throwing the error so I know
what to fix? Is

Samba on MacOSX and printing
Hi all,
an iBook running Mac OS X 10.2 recently joined my little network, so
i did configure it for using a Windows shared printer (HP Officejet G55),
naturally through SMB protocol. I used CUPS for setting it up. Now, the
problem: if i try to print from the iBook, the printer takes about 10
minutes
for throwing out each page and the document seems to be continuously spooled
up to windows.

Specifying Path Model in SEM for CFA
I'm using specify.model for the sem package. I can't figure out how to
represent the residual errors for the observed variables for a CFA
model. (Once I get this working I need to add some further constraints.)
Here is what I've tried:
model.sa <- specify.model()
F1 -> X1,l11, NA
F1 -> X2,l21, NA
F1 -> X3,l31, NA
F1 -> X4,l41, NA
F1 -> X5, NA, 0.20

data from multilevel units,first sample the class ,and then the student in calss.following is the 2-level model. and the level-1 model deals with the student,and the level-2 model deals with the class level the students belong to.

[LLVMdev] Need help on SPEC 95 "standard" commandlines
Some of the run commandlines don't seem to be the *default ref*
configuration. For instance, in 099.go, what's in the script is:
LEVEL = ../../../..
BM=099.go
ifeq ($(RUN_TYPE),test)
STDIN_FILENAME = /dev/null
STDOUT_FILENAME = null.out
RUN_OPTIONS = 40 19
else
STDIN_FILENAME = 2stone9.in
STDOUT_FILENAME = 2stone9.out
RUN_OPTIONS = 50 9

nls convergence problem
I'm having problems getting nls to agree that convergence has occurred in a
toy problem.
nls.out never gets defined when there is an error in nls. Reaching the
maximum number of iterations is alway an error, so nls.out never gets
defined when the maximum number of iterations is reched.

[LLVMdev] Need help on SPEC 95 "standard" commandlines
Does anyone know the "standard" commandline to compile and run spec95
benchmarks ?
I found some scripts in llvm test suite (External/SPEC/CINT95), but I am
not sure if they are the *default ref* configurations. <Some of them
seem to use smaller problem sizes.> SPEC95 was retired many years ago,
so few people around me know how to compile and run them.

scatterplot3d
Dear R-help,
I am having trouble with your scatterplot3d program. For help with this
problem I was directed to your address by Martin Maechler at "
r-core-bounces at r-project.org." I'm also sending a CC to "
r-core-owner at r-project.org" as I'm not yet certain of the proper address to
use for this.
I have R version 2.8.1 and have downloaded 'scatterplot3d.'

Quantile normalization and NA
Hi,
I am new to R,
I am doing quantile normalization with a dat matix of
384X124 and I find that while computing the quantile
normailzation it introduces 'NA' into some of the
cells, can someone help me to overcome this problem ?
This is the command that goes like upto g62 for 124
colomns

For a small set of data there is no problem,

bug with rpois (PR#9106)
The R poisson random generator rpois appears to have a bug for
theta 10 or larger. The sample mean of the pseudo variates is too
small: sample mean approx theta - 0.5.
I use Version 1.1.1 (August 15, 2000) Of R on a Dell OptiPlex computer
with the
Windows XP Professional operating system.
Has this bug been fixed in later versions?

Scale set of 0 values returns NAN??
Hi,
More questions in my ongoing quest to convert from RapidMiner to R.
One thing has become VERY CLEAR: None of the issues I'm asking about
here are addressed in RapidMiner. How it handles misisng values,
scaling, etc. is hidden within the "black box". Using R is forcing me
to take a much deeper look at my data and how my experiments are
constructed. (That's a very

Nouveau doesn't detect DVI - Monitor
Hello,
I'm new here, and I hope I can get any help. At first I thought this is
a support mailing list, but it looks more like one for developers.
I'm using Nouveau in ubuntu bionic. My problem is, when I connect a
second Monitor to my Laptop on DVI-D connector, the monitor is not
detected, Nouveau reports it as "disconnected".
The Hardware works, because the BIOS uses the
