R crashes when setWinProgressBar is give a numeric value for label argument
This problem can be seen by the following commands: > pb <- winProgressBar(max=1000, label='0') > b <- 1 > setWinProgressBar(pb, b, label=b) This set of commands (on windows of course, XP in this case) causes R to crash. This is not strictly a bug since the documentation states that the label argument should be a character string and using as.character(b) does work

comparing two regression models with different dependent variable
Hi, I would like to compare to regression models - each model has a different dependent variable. The first model uses a number that represents the learning curve for reward. The second model uses a number that represents the learning curve from punishment stimuli. The first model is significant and the second isn't. I want to compare those two models and show that they are significantly

BackgrounDRb newbie stuck at first base. Fresh pair of eyes needed
Can''t believe I can''t see the problem here, but after a few hours bashing my head on a brick wall, going to risk looking stupid by seeing if anyone can point out my idiocy (that''s the worst thing about coding on your own). Trying to get BackgrounDRb to take over the scraping task which is currently being done in a Rails controller. That''s not the problem at

Rasterisk freeze on 4G link
Hello, I'm remotely managing an asterisk setup using an OpenVPN client on this Asterisk box, connecting to an OpenVPN server of mine). This box is mainly connected to PSTN. It is also connected to the Internet, only for remote management. The former ADSL link has recently been replaced by a new 4G link (UMTS). I'm connecting to this box from a Debian Jessie/Gnome Terminal combo. With

problem compiling OpenSSH 3.9 on OpenBSD 3.4
Please pardon any user idiocy involved, but I applied the OpenBSD 3.4 patch to the 3.9 sources on both my i386 and sparc64 OpenBSD 3.4 boxes, and get the same error: cc -o sshd sshd.o auth-rhosts.o auth-passwd.o auth-rsa.o auth-rh-rsa.o sshpty.o sshlogin.o servconf.o serverloop.o uidswap.o auth.o auth1.o auth2.o auth-options.o session.o auth-chall.o auth2-chall.o groupaccess.o auth-skey.o

R 1.3.1 on OS9.1?
Dear List, After my laptop was stolen I (eventually) replaced it with a G4 laptop running Mac OS 9.1 . This also meant I updated to the current Mac binary 1.3.1. This is pretty wonderful except for one problem. I normally save R figs as eps files using the Mac OS and then read them into Latex documents. This no longer works as the legends overwrite the diagrams. Saving as ps from R also does

PDC/Roving Profiles/and Password Encryption
Hi All, Well, despite my general idiocy I've managed to get PDC and roving profiles working perfectly in my test situation. Obviously, this isn't good enough since computers are the devil, so I've run into some more problems. Fortunately for the Samba team, this isn't a problem with Samba - I think it's more a problem with how our network is set up here. Basically,

French Toulouse CRAN mirror always down
Hi! One of the three French CRAN mirrors, cran.cict.fr (Toulouse) seems to be down most of the time, and at least really not reliable. It has currently been down for 28 days (!) [1], and I know that over two years I've rarely been able to use it (no response, slow, hangs...). I'm sure the maintainers of this mirror mean well, but the result is really negative for French R users. This

Exec file incompatible with hardware
Sorry if this is going to be one of those 'idiot' questions, but I don't use Samba. It has always been on our server, chugging along beautifully so no on ever had to touch it... Well, we consolidated servers and moved everything to another server with HP-UX 10.20 (the previous server had the same HPUX version so I thought I was in the clear), the samba version is samba-1.9.18p2. [LLVMdev] Implementing if-conversion as a GSoC 2015 project?
OK, Let me describe. There is nothing wrong with if-conversion in LLVM. The algorithm implemented in LLVM can handle the if(???){do something} and if(???){do something}else{do something else} case very well. But it can handle complicated case like when there are a lot of gotos in the program. The more systematic way to do if-conversion is based on Hyperblock [Scott A. Mahlke et al 1992]

Bugs Fixed in Trunk
I''m backed off Edge Rails and all the way back to 0.7.2 of rSpec to make my tests pass. The changes to rSpec are coming together fast and furious and they seem too good to pass up. Is there an approved way to upgrade the components in the absence of prebuilt stuff? Every time I''ve tried, I''ve been punished harshly by the Version Conflict Gods. Just asking for
