simple generation of artificial data with defined features
Dear R-colleagues,
I am quite a newbie to R fighting my stupidity to solve a probably quite
simple problem of generating artificial data with defined features.
I am conducting a study of inter-observer-agreement in
child-bronchoscopy. One of the most important measures is Kappa
according to Fleiss, which is very comfortable available in R through
the irr-package.
Unfortunately medical doctors

stratified kappa (measure agreement or interrater reliability)?
Hi All:
Could anyone point me to a package that can calculate stratified kappa? My
design is like this, 4 raters, 30 types of diagnosis scores, 20 patients.
Each rater will rate each patient for each type of diagnosis score. The
rater's value is nominal.
I know I can measure the agreement between raters for each type of diagnosis
score, e.g., calculate out 30 kappa values. My problem is I

Simulating dataset using Parallel Latent CTT model?
I am trying to simulate a dataset using Parallel Latent CTT model and this is what i have done so far:

path="C:/NCME"

Weighted Kappa for m Raters
Hello, I have 50 raters and 180 cases which are rated as malignant, probably malignant, probably benign, and benign. I want to compare all the raters but I want a weighted kappa to penalize differences between malignant and benign more than differences between malignant and probably malignant. I only found the weighted option in the 2-rater functions (kappa2, wkappa, cohen.kappa). The

Fleiss Kappa
Hello Everyone
I am calculating Fleiss Kappa, I have 28 raters, 5 Subjects and 5 ratings.
The problem is that there are 2 missing values in the data.
Would it better to replace those with "0" or should those be omitted? By
omission I will be left wit only 3 subjects.
and my second problem is that overall agreement comes to zero, whereas the
data is not showing agreement to be close

princomp - varimax - factanal
Hi!
I am trying to analyse with R a database that I have previously analysed
with SPSS.
Steps with SPSS:
Factorial analysis
Extraction options : I select = Principal component analysis
Rotation: varimax
Steps with R:
I have tried it with varimax function with factanal or with princomp...and
the results are different of what I have with SPSS. I think that varimax

Function to compute multi-response, multi-rater kappa?
I'm looking for a function in R that extends kappa to multiple raters when
there is more than one response per subject. For example, say a group of
doctors have to assign diseases to patients. Each patient will be assigned
one to many diseases, and the number of doctors assigning diseases to any
one patient will be two to many.
Here's an extremely simple example of the type of data I

convenient way to calculate specificity, sensitivity and accuracy from raw data
Dear R-colleagues,
this is a question from a R-newbie medical doctor:
I am evaluating data on inter-observer-reliability in endoscopy. 20
medical doctors judged 42 videos filling out a multiple choice survey
for each video. The overall-data is organized in a classical way:
observations (items from the multiple choice survey) as columns, each
case (identified by the two columns "number of

Where do I find Cohen´s kappa???
Hello,
I?m looking for a way to measure the goodness of fit of my model with Cohen?s Kappa (scaling between 0 and 1).
The kappa function does not give the results I?m looking for. Heres the code:
z<-glm(x~y,binomial)
kappa(z, exact = T)
Does anyone know more?
many thanks
Christian

Multiple Regression with Correlation Matrix
Hello,
In SPSS, a multiple regression can be conducted by inputting the means, standard deviations, sample size, and correlation matrix without actually using the raw dataset. Is it possible to do the same in R?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Outputing residuals
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to output, to file, the residuals from a REML model-fit. The type of residuals I am interested in are the simple "original raw values - model fit" type.
Thanks in advance,

How to build a package which loads Rgraphviz (if installed)...
Dear List,
I use Rgraphviz for display of graphs in some packages. Since Rgraphviz is no longer on CRAN it needs to be installed from Bioconductor and that is fine, but I have trouble figureing out the following: I create a plot method which - if Rgraphviz is installed - uses Rgraphviz for displaying and otherwise does nothing. This is implemented as:
if (!("package:Rgraphviz" %in%

intra-class correlation? coherence among multiple ordinal responses
I have a quick statistical question and hoped somebody has a tip for me
without me having to go to the local statistician on Monday.
I assess 4 statements from 90 subjects. Each of the 4 statements receives
one of three responses (say -1, 0, or 1). I can use Cramer's V or Spearman
correlations to assess the correlation between each pair of statements, but
I am looking for a measure of

sequential sum of a vector...
Hi R,
Let,
x=1:80
I want to sum up first 8 elements of x, then again next 8 elements of x,
then again another 8 elements..... So, my new vector should look like:
c(36,100,164,228,292,356,420,484,548,612)
I used:
aggregate(x,list(rep(1:10,each=8)),sum)[-1]
or
rowsum(x,group=rep(1:10,each=8))
But without grouping, can I achieve the required? Any other ways of
doing

Cohen's kappa, unequal score ranges
Hi,
I am having problems getting cohen's kappa to work. I have been using the function:
><-ckappa(x,y)
from the psy package.
I am trying to test for inter-observer reliability, I have 2 observers and 26 categories, however, the two observers might not necessarily have the same range of categories (I have unequal score ranges). However, I thought R could cope with this.
Each time I

Factor Analysis Output from R and SAS
Dear Users,
I ran factor analysis using R and SAS. However, I had different outputs from
R and SAS.
Why they provide different outputs? Especially, the factor loadings are
different.
I did real dataset(n=264), however, I had an extremely different from R and
SAS.
Why this things happened? Which software is correct on?
Thanks in advance,
