ReShape/cast question - sum of value in table
Hi,
I've tried to capture the basics of this problem I'm having. Been
working on this for a couple of days and just cannot get past it. As a
test of this list software I've attached is a small text file zipped
up. I hope it gets through but if it doesn't I'll post the actual text
which is only 26 lines. Put it somewhere sensible and change the first
line in the code to point

What is cast telling me?
Hi,
What is cast telling me when it says the following?
Aggregation requires fun.aggregate: length used as default
What is 'length'?
I've taken a small subset of data and wondered what EnTime vs
ExTime might look like. cast is kind enough to give me a table but I
don't understand the values in the table. They seem to sum up ro be
the same as the total dimension of the data

Date conversions
Hi all,
I'm having a little bit of trouble with some date conversions and
am hoping someone can help me out. Thanks in advance.
OK, I have two sources of data that provide date info in a csv file
differently. I've attached a small zipped file with two text files
that illustrate both. (Is it ok to send attachments to this list? Not
sure. It's very small.) I need to be able to

sort data.frame by specific date column
I have a data.frame that was built from a number of smaller
data.frames with rbind. Each ssmaller data.frame bound together runs
over the same date ranges. The format of the whole thing looks like
this:

Test for X=1 fails, test for >0 works, data in text file is 1
Hi,
I am apparently not understanding some nuance about either the use
of subset or more likely my ability to test for a numerical match
using '='. Which is it? Thanks in advance.
I've read a data file, reshaped it and then created MyResults by
keeping only lines where the value column is greater than 0. So far so
good. The data in MyResults looks good to me by eye.

Reducing arrays for comparison with each other...
Hi,
First up, thanks again for all the help I'm getting on this list.
I'm making great headway in analyzing my experimental data on an
experiment by experiment basis. No way I could have done this in the
time I've done it without your help.
This email is partially a question about R but is also soliciting
overall guidance if anyone wants to give it. I somehow managed to get

*** buffer overflow detected *** accessing invalid FD in libguestfs
We have extended collectd virt plugin to extract info about disk usage from
a libvirt domain using libguestfs. In addition to my previous mail I am
attaching some more infomration about the problem.
Currently the collectd plugin works fine and retrieves the required
statistics. The problem that I face happens after certain number of cycles
(getting disk usage statistics). Collectd is terminated

str() on a data frame with 600 variables
Hello..
How do I get str() to show all variables in a data frame? It seems to be
"list output truncated" at about 99 variables, the data frame has over
600 but i can't seem to figure out how to show all variables, we see
list.len() but again can't seem to figure this out - help will be
appreciated.

unionfs related patch
G'day ...
David Schultz, in his spare time, has been working through some of the
issues I've been able to 'tweak' in the unionfs code ... as he is
currently working on forward-patching it to -CURRENT right now, he can't
commit the code to the -STABLE tree ... in order to allow others using
unionfs to test the patch (I've been running it a few weeks now on a very

Find the flow data from its accumulation of the panel data
Hi,
I have the panel data of income statement of several banks. The date
9803 means 1998-Q1, 9806 means 1998-Q2, etc. I transform the date code to 1
(for 1998Q1), 2 (for 1998Q2), ...., 16 (for 2011Q4) where 1, 2, .... are
placed in Col1.
Now the income statement of a specific quarter is actually the
accumulation from the beginning of the year. For example, the cost data of
1999Q3 is the

ggplot2, geomtile fill assignment
Dear R help,
I have some readings in three dimensions (x, y, z) and an amplitude for
each. I'd like to visualize the data using ggplot, using tile plots, as I
have some additional point data I would like to eventually overlay on the
tile plots.
I would like to subset the data by sections, slices if you will, in the z
dimension, and plot the data for that slice.
I can do all of this, but am

quantile regression problem
Dear List members,
I would like to ask for advise on quantile regression in R.
I am trying to perform an analysis of a relationship between species abundance
and its habitat requirements -
the habitat requirements are, however, codes - 0,1,2,3... where 0<1<2<3
and the scale is linear - so I would be happy to treat them as continuos
The analysis of the data somehow does not work, I am

altitud=read.csv("C:/Users/IER/Dropbox/Pasantia
