aggregate over x cases
Hello, I have been struggling for quite some time to find a solution for the following problem. I have a data frame which is organized by block and trial. Each trial is represented across several rows in this data frame. I'd like to extract the first x rows per trial and block. For example block trial x y 1 1 1 605 150 2 1 1 603 148 3 1 1 604 140 4 1 1 600 140 5 1 1 590 135 6 1 1 580 135 7

selectively altering variable value
Hello, I have run an eye-tracking experiment for which I now like to analyse the saccades. Participants looked from a fixation cross (ia = 5) to the target area (ia = 4) in following example of a data frame. ia = 9 stands for everything else. A saccade is indicated by saccade = 1. Sometimes the saccade just ends before the target area (see below). This is due to the parameters that determine a

VServer Support
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi *! I''m currently working on integrating VServer support into puppet. I have uploaded a prototype for managing interface configuration to the Cookbook at http://reductivelabs.com/cookbook/VServerRecipes and would very much appreciate feedback about style and functionality. FOSDEM?
Hi all, A couple of people are trying to convince me to come to FOSDEM in Belgium at the end of February. I''m a bit hesitant because I''ve been doing so much travel, but LinuxConf.au was a great experience and seems to have really helped get exposure to Puppet. There seems to be a pretty strong European contingent of Puppet users, and it''d be great to meet

DBM databases for R?

density(x)
Dear experts, when trying to estimate an kernel density function with density(x) I get the following error message with imported data from either EXCEL or text files: Error in density(spr) : argument must be numeric. Other procedues such as truehist work. If I generate data within R density works fine. Does anybody have an idea? Yours -- Christoph Hanck Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft

Latin hyper cube sampling from expand.grid()
Dear R experts I am looking for a package which gives me latin hyper cube samples from the grid of values produced from the command "expand.grid". Any pointers to this issue might be very useful. Basically, I am doing the following: > a<-(1:10) > b<-(20:30) > dataGrid<-expand.grid(a,b) Now, is there a way to use this "dataGrid" in the package

read.table() and scientific notation
Dear all, I am having troubles importing values written as scientific notation using read.table(). I'm sure this is a frequent problem, as many people in my lab have this problem as well, so I'm sure that I just have troubles googling for the right solution. The problem is, that, given a file like that: a 1 2e-4 b 2 3e-8 ... the third column gets imported as a factor, or a string if I

comparing row by row in matrix
I don't know the Russell-Rao coefficient but maybe this will help: You can compute the number of times y and x are both 1 (that's what your function f does) by counting 1s in y*x, i.e., sum(y*x), aka t(y)%*%x. Ordinary matrix multiplication does this row-by-column, so if M and N are two binary matrices, M%*%t(N) will have (i,j) entry equal to the count of 1s in common to row i of M and

Apply same linear model to subset of dataframe
I have applied the same linear model to several different subsets of a dataset. I recently read that in R, code should never be repeated. I feel my code as it currently stands has a lot of repetition, which could be condensed into fewer lines. I will use the mtcars dataset to replicate what I have done. My question is: how can I use fewer lines of code (for example using a for loop, a function or

Help on factanal.fit.mle
Hi Can anybody please suggest me about the documentation of "factanal.fit.mle()" (Not factanal()------ searching factanal.fit.mle() in R always leads to factanal()). Is there any function for doing principal component factor analysis in R. Regards Souvik Bandyopadhyay JRF, Dept Of Statistics Calcutta University [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

MacOS parallel::makeCluster fails
Hi all, The call parallel::makeCluster(1L) hangs infinitely on my MacOS machine which seems to be already reported by some people (e.g., https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2018-February/075565.html). However, the solutions posted on SO, GH or R-devel do not work in my case. So far, I unsuccessfully tested ? 1. Couple of reboots 2. Adding 192.0.0.1 to /etc/hosts 3. Using R.app

[Hexagon] Type Legalization
Is VT a legal type on Hexagon? It looks like Hexagon may be setting SHL as Custom for every defined vector type. Try adding TLI.isTypeLegal(VT) too. ~Craig On Thu, Sep 21, 2017 at 10:06 PM, Haidl, Michael < michael.haidl at uni-muenster.de> wrote: > Hi Sanjay, > > thanks for this information. Status of llvm.experimental.vector.reduce.* intrinsics
I am currently working on a transformation pass that transforms masked.load and masked.store intrinsics to (hopefully) increase performance on targets where masked.load and masked.store are not legal. To check if the loads and stores are necessary at all I take the mask for the masked operations and want to reduce them to a single value. vector.reduce.or seemed very handy to do the job. I

slow loops in Monte Carlo Simulations
Hi there, I am running Monte Carlo Simulations in R using ordinary "while (condition)" loops. Since the number of iterations is something like 100.000 and within each iteration a given subsample is extended sequentially it takes hours to run the simulation. Does anyone know if there is either a way to avoid using loops in Monte Carlo Simulations or how to include possible faster
