area of ellipses (car)
hi,
i am using this script on our webserver to plot data / draw ellipses
for a flex movie...
would like to add the areas of the ellipses to another legend just
like the means for
the distance.
the data looks like: x (dispersion), y (distance), Club (name of
the club for grouping)
thanks, sam

Correlograms and linear regression
Dear all,
I generated a Correlograms and used the panel.ellipse (confidence ellipse
and smoothed line) option. Is there a way to get instead of the smoothed
line the linear regression?
Thanks,
As hz

confidence / prediction ellipse
Hi,
I'm using the R library(car) to draw confidence/prediction ellipses in a
scatterplot.
>From what i understood the ellipse() function return an ellipse based
parameters: shape, center, radius .
If i read dataEllipse() function i can see how these parameters are
calculated for a confidence ellipse.

density ellipses?
Hello,
has anybody written a function to plot density ellipses (95%, 99% or
anything) in a scatterplot? I found nothing in any package, nor in the list
archives.
There does seem to be a contributed package "ellipse" for S-Plus (on
S-Archive), but it does a lot more than what I would need. Still, if anybody
ported it to R, I'd be grateful for a link. I'm a bit afraid to try the

Confidence ellipse for correlation
Hello,
SAS' point and click interface has the option of produce a scatterplot with a
superimposed confidence ellipse for the correlation coefficient. Since I
generally like R so much better, I would like to reproduce this in R. I've
been playing with the ellipse package. In order to have the points and the
ellipse on the same graph I've done the following.

categorical variable in scatterplot (car)
Hello R folks,
I am encountering a problem with the following scatterplot function from the
car package:
> scatterplot(y~x|z)
where y and x are continuous (interval) random variables and z is a
categorical variable. When z is a categorical variable coded 1 or 2, I
(appropriately) get a scatterplot of y by x, coded by z. Similarly, when z
is a categorical variable coded 1, 2, or 3, there is

I want to label X points and Y ponits using the different color.
Any idea for this?

Scatterplot color options in CAR package?
Hi All.
I'd like to change the default plotting colors used to construct a
scatterplot with regression line in the CAR package.
So,
scatterplot(y~pred,smooth=FALSE, xlab="X", ylab="Y", lwd=2)
If I change the palette (e.g., palette(ranbow(6)), I can change the color of
the lines and points.
However, the axes and labels remain in black (i.e., the first color in the

(CAR) Scatterplot and problems (?) with abline
Network Blitz
I'm trying to generate a graph to summarize Interest Rate Parity. This
involves a scatterplot of x against y where the x and y limits are set
so to center the graph on 0,0 and then adding each axis line and a 45
degree line. Using CAR's scatterplot (sample code below) everything
except the axes plot fine:

scatterplot in Package CAR
Hi Folks,
Please,
when I ask the option reg.line at the scatterplot in package car, the OLS models includes a constant?
If not how can I do it sing the following code:
scatterplot(lfirms ~ lscale,
data=dataset,
reg.line=lm, smooth=FALSE, labels=FALSE,
span=0.5,
xlab="Relative Plant Fixed Cost",
ylab="Relative Number of Firms",
pch=c(18),

Removing default loess line from scatterplot ({car})
scatterplot() is autogenerating a regression and loess line. I want to remove
the loess line, but can only find samples for how to add it. I definitely do
not have code that adds it (see below), so I am puzzling...

xlab="Aroused",
ylab="Anxious",
main="Arousal and anxiety ratings",

Fine tuning scatterplot() (car package)
Hello all!
System: R2.0.1, W2k.
All packages apdated with update.packages().
I use the default graphic device for my system (no active choice).
I?m trying to fine-tune scatterplot() graphs (package car), for
publication.
I want to control plotting symbols and colours to match plots from
other, less flexible, systems. I also need to make all text and
symbols bigger, to enable printing of the

scatterplots in car package
Hi, using scatterplot in 'car' package.
There are 4 plots to be pictured together (ignore data used):
library(car)
par(mfrow=c(3,1))
ts.plot(rnorm(100))
ts.plot(rnorm(100))
scatterplot(rnorm(100),rnorm(100),boxplot="",smooth=T) # scatter with
non-parametric fit
problem is that the last one comes 'always' separate.
Is there any way to solve it?? of course can use

circular reference lines in splom
Hello everyone,
I'm stumped. I'd like to create a scatterplot matrix with circular
reference lines. Here is an example in 2d:
library(ellipse)
set.seed(1)
dat <- matrix(rnorm(300), ncol = 3)
colnames(dat) <- c("X1", "X2", "X3")
dat <- as.data.frame(dat)
grps <- factor(rep(letters[1:4], 25))
panel.circ <- function(x, y, ...)

example of geom_contour() with function argument
Hi,
This is not a HW problem, sadly: I was last in a classroom 30 years ago,
and can no longer run off to the instructor :-(
I apologize but I cut and paste the wrong snippet earlier and made a typo
in doing so, but the result is the same with the more appropriate snippet.
require(mvtnorm)
require(ggplot2)
set.seed(1234)
xx <- data.frame(rmvt(100, df = c(13, 13)))

Legend in scatterplot and adding regression lines
Hi R users
The scatterplot (used package R-Cmdr ) obtained has the legend off the
plot in the upper left
I would like to decide where to put the legend - is that option still
available and how do I do it?
code:
Dataset <- read.table("J:/Pigmatingsb.txt", header=TRUE, sep="\t",
na.strings="NA", dec=".", strip.white=TRUE)
