problems with package tutorial
Hi: Here's my revised attempt at explaining my problem. Hopefully it won't get sent out weirdly like it did earlier. ? The link to what I'm trying to follow is http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf ? I've been going through the tutorial but when I got to page 9 and did R CMD SHLIB Xdemo.cc Xdemo_main.cc -o Xdemo.dll I got

Resource version in php_xapian.dll (windows)
(following my mail in xapian-discuss on 11.06) I revisited my resource file and came up with a much simpler solution. I'm now using the new version.h file (no need to duplicate version strings) and add php-src to the include path given to rc.exe so I can get the precise php version. On my windows, the resulting dll appears as "Xapian 1.0.1 bindings for PHP 5.2.2" Here is what I

Bug#361968: Wrong name in manpage
Kanru, Thanks for the bugreport. On 11 April 2006 at 22:03, Kanru Chen wrote: | Package: r-base-core | Version: 2.2.1.svn37668-1 | Severity: minor | | In manpage of /usr/bin/R, the first, fourth and last line shows `VERSION' | instead of `R'. | | I believe it is a typo. More likely something is wrong with how R.1 is autogenerated using help2man. Incidentally, that `R --version'

glitch in building R package
I follow Alan Lenarcic's very helpful tutorial on building R package for Windows (XP), which could be found in www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf<http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/stuff_for_blog/AlanRPackageTutorial.pdf>. The package involves a small dll compiled from some very simple C++ codes. The build process seemed to work smoothly, until i

Link with C code
Hello, I am using cygwin (latest version) and I managed to generate a dll partly with rcmd shlib although there was a problem with both the resouce file (I had to remove "FILEOS VOS__WINDOWS32") and the command line for gcc (--shared is not supported for instance). So I would like to know which compiler/environment you advise to use for windows OS. Then I could load the library in R

close but no cigar
Hi Everyone: It turns out that there's still a small ( I hope ) problem. I'm close but that only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Here's my problem: When trying to load a package that I am writing, the load is looking for the packageDescription function in the utils package but not finding the utils package. I looked on cran and utils is not there which makes me think that it

Creating bridged network
Dear Xen users, I''ve the xen hypervisor installed correctly on CentOS, and it boots correctly too. But the bridged network could not be configured using the commands and steps on the Internet... is it that hard to do in CentOS? issue building my own package... moving from Apple OS to Windows
Thanks Mark, That was it. (ie the --binary option on R CMD build) I'll just state for the web-o-sphere (just in case it helps any one else) that part of my confusion in building this came from misunderstanding what they call "source" and what the call "binary" in this environment. I always think of source as something that must be compiled into a binary (like C-code

Running an R script without running R
Is there any way to run an R script without running R? As an example, suppose I have a tcl/tk interface that asks for a number (in a GUI) and displays its factorial. Is there a way to invoke this script without invoking R? I'm using R 2.4.1 in GNU/Linux Fedora Core 4. Alberto Monteiro

still working on building R from source
Hi Everyone: Gavin's been so generous and patient that I figured I'd give him a break and send this snag to the list. When I do get this working, I will send an "How to build R from the tarball " instructions message to this list for posterity's sake ( and myself and anyone else who doesn't know how to build R from the tarball ). So, here's my latest snag: Gavin
