Plot, lines and disordered x and y
Hello, I have 2d data where x coordinate is not given in usual ascending order (x1,...,x1+l; l>0), and instead in another, regular, but not ascending or descending order (for illustration: x1,-x1,x1+dx1,-x1-dx1,....).y is an array which corresponds to the way x is ordered. I have noticed that giving 'plot(x,y,type='l') produces a plot where the points are connected in a completely

Polar coordinates - contour plots
Hello, I have data for contour plot which is given in polar coordinates. Is there a straightforward way to plot in polar coordinates in R, or do i need to fiddle with transformations and then to sort the x and y vectors to be in ascending order as required by contour function and relatives? Cheers, Todor

array
Hello, I have some files generated from microarray experiments. I used scan() to read the files, and assigned each file to a unique name with many rows and columns. Now I want to create a array (ArrayA) with unique names, and I can use ArrayA[1,2][[6]] to refer the data in each file. Is there any packages available for array of array? Thanks! How to apply vector value function to a multidimensional array indexed by the remaining dimensions?
Hi, I am looking for some generalization of colSums and rowSums for general vector valued functions, and for arrays of more than 2 dimensions. So as a concrete example, suppose I have a 3 dimensional array, given by x = array(1:100,c(3,4,5)). and I want to sum the 3rd index of x to obain a 3 by 4 matrix. Using rowSums would return a vector of length 3 because it treats the last two indices as

intersecting rows of a matrix
useR's, First, I would like to say thanks to John Fox for providing this segment of code to perform intersection for multiple sets: intersection <- function(x, y, ...){ if (missing(...)) intersect(x, y) else intersect(x, intersection(y, ...)) } I want to execute this function on the rows of a matrix I have: Ik.mat.test <- matrix(c(2,3,6,1,2,6,6,1,2),byrow=T,nrow=3) > Ik.mat.test

Help me improving my code
Hi, I am new to R. My problem is with the ordered logistic model. Here is my question: Generate an order discrete variable using the variable wrwage1 = wages in first full calendar quarter after benefit application in the following way: * wage*1*Ordered *= 1 *if*0 *· wrwage*1 *< *1000 2 *if*1000 *· wrwage*1 *< *2000 3 *if*2000 *· wrwage*1 *< *3000 4 *if*3000 *· wrwage*1 *<

[PATCH] smallft.c
Hi, I'm re-posting this; the first post was filtered because I wasn't a member of the mailing list... I have a small diff for Vorbis which replaces some loops with memcpy. This allows us to take advantage of memcpy's optimisations when copying the floating point data. Does this look OK? - Michael Index: smallft.c ===================================================================

[LLVMdev] How to find the first block of each loop
Hello, I want to insert a control-block before every outermost loop. My current solution is: 1) find each outermost loop in some function; 2) find the loop header with Loop->getHeader() APIs, and then insert the controller block before the header block of current loop. But I encounters problems when there multi subsequent loops in the following example, where there is no code between loops:

[Cucumber] Struggling with "multiple step definitions"
Hey gang, I find myself struggling with multiple step definitions in cucumber all the time. I regularly test the contents of my flash[:notice] in steps, since I think that''s part of the behaviour of the app. So, while implementing a new feature, I ran into the following error: /opt/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/cucumber-0.1.15/bin/../lib/cucumber/ step_mother.rb:81:in

multidimensional array calculation
Hello, probably it is quite easy but I can get it: I have mulitple numeric vectors and a function using all of them to calculate a new value: L <- c(200,400,600) AR <- c(1.5) SO <- c(1,3,5) T <- c(30,365) fun <- function(L,AR,SO,T){ exp(L*AR+sqrt(SO)*log(T)) } How can I get an array or dataframe where all possible combinations of the factors are listed and the new value is

multiplying multidimensional arrays (was: Re: [R] Manipulation involving arrays)
I am moving this to r-devel. The problem and solution below posted on r-help could have been a bit slicker if %*% worked with multidimensional arrays multiplying them so that if the first arg is a multidimensional array it is mulitplied along the last dimension (and first dimension for the second arg). Then one could have written: Tbar <- tarray %*% t(wt) / rep(wti, each = 9) which is a bit

MultiDimensional arrays
hello, I'm working with a 4 dimensional NetCDF file, trying to calculate some summary statistics on a parameter. The dimensions are number of rows and columns, time and days. The attribute in question in this case happens to be a probability of woodstork foraging success. But it could be anything My question is whether the following code is efficient to grab the probability values ? I am

Ordered Multidimensional Arrays
Hi, I am inquiring as to what are the best practices with respect to storing and manipulating ordered multi-dimensional arrays. For example, suppose I have a sequence of time-varying covariance matrices of asset returns. The data is ordered, but the ordering is not necessarily regular (e.g. daily data omitting weekends and holidays, etc.). The data array is say, N x N x T. For example, the
