Locals and partials
Since i can''t figure out how to use heredocs with erb. im looking at
solving my problem
with partials, but since partials seem to have a completely separate
namespace/scope
im looking for a way to pass the entire scope of the calling rhtml to
the partial.

A way to handle looong executions?
Is there somewhere I can specify a maximum execution time for a given
request. (Eg, someone does something in my application that brings about
and infinite loop). The idea of potentially huge queries or even a
programmer mistake
is not impossible, and I have a hard time accepting that I will
release an
application that has no way of handling that.

Max Execution Time with fastcgi (and in general). Getting it done.
The purpose of this email is not to argue that there is a need to
have the option of killing a single response if it
takes longer than say 30 seconds. This is a worthwhile feature, years
of work in php has shown me that it is.
Thanks to a bit of help from various source in the community, I''ve
been able to find something that works with fastcgi
and surely should work with webbrick.

infinite loop with breakpointer
I''ve tried my script (shouldnt matter what) with webbrick and fcgi
and it errors,
so I go to retry with breakpoint (and run ruby script/breakpointer)
there have been times when i can get the breakpointer to work but
currently
with both fcgi and webbrick the entire ruby controller is looping.
Sigh...any help in understanding why this is happening?

Apache+Mongrel Redirection Problems
Hi folks,
Newbie issues...I''m prototying an Apache/Mongrel configuration setup
as follows:
* Two Mongrel servers each serving a Rails application.
* Apache front-end.
* Linux system (CentOS)
* The plan is to create two virtual hosts.
/ETC/HOSTS LOOKS LIKE THIS:

OT(?): ReverseProxy and URLs
This could be OT. If so, just let me know and I apologize in advance.
I mentioned in an earlier email that I have Mongrel setup as a proxy server
behind Apache. Rails applications served by Mongrel do not find the CSS file
and hence no styles are displayed. In fact, many of the actions are not
found. The reason, I believe, is because the URLs for styles and actions
typically follow this pattern:

Mexican ITSP needed
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone knows about a Mexican ITSP I can connect to to
route calls from and to my * boxen.
If it matters: I'm located in The Netherlands and one of our customers
is in Mexico so if we need a Mexican presence that is not an issue.
Thanks.

Can i use a hash on a collection_select? If don't, alternatives.
In my current application, i have food categories: mexican, home made,
japanese, ect
As these categories only have ID and name, no other attributes, i dont
want to create a table on the DB.
My first idea was to create a constant named FOOD_CATEGORIES, that is
has like:
FOOD_CATEGORIES = { 1=>''mexican'',
2=>''japanese'',

OT Mexican domains?
Hola!
In case there are some mexican readers here...
It is little difficult for an english speaker to find information
about mexican domains. Is it possible to register a domain like
"fiesta.mx"? I have seen sites selling ".com.mx" and similar but not
just ".mx".
Thanks,
Peter

recommendations/suggestions - geographically spread network based on Centos
Good day all,
I was wondering if I could pick some admin heads here as I have a HUGE
project I have been tasked with.....
I am asking here since I will be basing everything on Centos, and want
it to all play nice together. If anyone feels this is straying off
topic, please just reply off list. I do not want to be the cause of
one of those threads.

I would like to analyze a 2D array using a mexican hat wavelet of fixed
scale. Couldn't find any mention of this wavelet on the help archives. Is
one available?

Rails on Pair networks
I''ve been looking to play about with Ruby on Rails for a while just to
see what the fuss is about and now that I have, it looks very
impressive. Unfortunately I can''t seem to get it to run on my shared web
server which is run by the hosting company pair networks (www.pair.com).
I found the handy guide on the wiki that seemed tailor made for my
problems and followed the

My name is Angel, I am Mexican, and I write by the following thing: I am in
search of commands or options in R that can be used in regional economics.
Specially I am interested in commands who can be interacted with geographic
information systems, to get a regionalization, using a lot of many
indicators.

distance to eye in persp()
Hi
the manpage for persp() has a wonderful section where a the trans3d
() function
is used with points() and lines() to add red dots and a green sinusoid
to the Mexican hat surface.
Does anyone have a way to tell what distance a point is from the eye/
camera?
Take the following line:
lines (trans3d(x, y=10, z= 6 + sin(x), pm = res), col = 3)
Is there a function like trans3d() that returns
