Producing KML files
Hi,
I am very new to R and I am trying to write KML files. I am running R-2.13.1 and I have the following packages:
- AKIMA
- RGDAL
- RSAGA
- SP
I was trying to run the simple example that I found at the following web page:

Help with nested loops
Hello-
I need to loop through a directory of files to extract data corresponding to
dates in a dataframe. Within a function, I've written nested loops to index
the dataframe dates, and the directory files. My function successfully
extracts the data corresponding to my first data frame date, but stops there
and doesn't continue through my entire list of data frame dates and
directory

how to convert source code in windows package for linux (ubuntu)
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone here as successfully converted a package for
windows to one that will work in Linux?
What are the necessary steps if you have the source code?

Missing p-values using lmer()
Hello,
I’m trying to perform a REML analysis using the lmer() function (lme4
package). Well, it seems to work well, except that I’m not getting any
p-value (see example below). Can someone tell me what I did wrong?

hist() and bar spacing
Hello,
Could someone explain to me why I get so different histograms, in terms of
bar spacing, depending on the number of counts entered ? (see example below)
> test <- c(0,1,1,1,1,0,0,0,0,0,2,3,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,6,7,5,4,3,4,2,2)
> hist(test)
I obtain this kind of histogram (what I actually want), i.e. large bars with
no space between them

Hardy 64 bit and Package Support
Hi All,
Not a new R user, but new to R with Linux, specifically Ubuntu Hardy
Heron 8.04 64bit.
I have had success installing common packages using the typical R
interface (in Linux), but have had problems installing less common
packages like (rgdal) and (RSAGA) that are not loaded with R. I'm
wondering if there are any tricks to these libraries that won't
install, from reading the

Arcgis in R
Hi all,
I am very knew to this R and Arcgis combination. I have already spent days
attempting to find my answer but have failed, therefore could you please if
possible explain any answers in simple form.
I am trying to access Arcgis through R, following a few steps:
1) Set up working directory
2)connect to Python
3) import arcgis- however, when I get to the import stage it comes up with

Problem with lme4
Hi - I'm having a problem trying to use the function GLMM() from lme4. Here
is what happens:
> library(lme4)
Loading required package: Matrix
Loading required package: lattice
> f1 <- GLMM(success~yearF, data=quality, random=~1|bandnumb,
family=binomial, method=PQL)
Error: couldn't find function "GLMM"
I remember having used lme4 before, without any problem.

I’m trying to fit the following model:
Dependent variable: MAXDEPTH (the maximum depth reached by a penguin during
a given dive)
Fixed effects: SUCCESSMN (an index of the “individual quality” of a bird),
STUDYDAY (the day of the study, from -5 to 20, with 0=Dec 20), and the
interaction SUCCESSMN*STUDYDAY
Random effect: BIRD (the bird id, as each bird is performing several dives)

RV: problems for making grids from lmer models
Dear colleagues:
I am working with binary mixed models using lme4 package and everything works fine until I try to spatialize the fitted models using grids predictors. I have used the "predict" function from RASTER package and the RSAGA functionalities, but always I have the same error: "Error in object$xlevels : $ operator not defined for this S4 class".
