R CMD CHECK question
hi,
I have two private packages, the first (`pkc') depending on the second one
(`roiutils'). The source code and DESCRIPTION files describes the dependency
as it should be ('Imports', `require'), at least I think so.
now, running
R CMD CHECK pkc
yields the following output in which I have inserted my
questions (lines starting with -->):

Variable in file name png
Hi,
I'm having trouble with getting the png function to properly produce multiple graphs. RIght now I have:
for (z in data) {
png(file=z,bg="white")
thisdf<-data[[z]]
plot(thisdf$rc,thisdf$psi)
dev.off()
}
Which should take the "data" object, a list of data sets and produce a graph of each with respect to the two variables rc and psi.
I want the names to change

piechart
dear R-community,
Is it possible to have one pie chart of a large radius and then a pie
chart with smaller radius placed on top of the larger so the centers of
the two pie charts coincide?
I managed to place a filled circle with smaller radius in the piechart,
see below.
Thanks in advance, Sybille

How to specify search order for require()
In a .First.lib I want to issue two require()s to insure that two other packages are loaded. But I want the package being loaded by .First.lib using library.dynam("mypackage",pkb,lib) to be higher in the search order than the two required packages, because I want to have a couple of functions from the two required packages overridden. What is the best way to do that? Thanks in advance

contour plots
Hello,
I want to make a contour plot.
I have a matrix (nrow=4,ncol=58) .
and two lists, one with 4 values (the depths) and one with 58 values (time in days)( Depth (should be later on the y-axis),and Time(should be later on the x-axis))
In the matrix there is the temperature for a specified depth and time. there are missing values (NAs).
I also put ranges for x-,y-,zlim.

FLAC won't allow project to build due to assert.h
I was looking into adding support for FLAC in my audio library, but
there's a problem. Simply adding the output of:
pkg-config flac --cflags
to the compiler flags so that FLAC's headers can be found will break my
build with errors like:
error: 'assert' was not declared in this scope
The problem is that /usr/include/FLAC has an "assert.h" header. In my

Weird freeze problem
Hello,
I am running mongrel 1.1 in production mode behind a lighttpd with mod_proxy.
At first everything works fine, however, after a few days, the mongrel servers stop answering at all, even if I try to connect to them directly.
I have checked logs but there is no sign of anything at all, and even when there was not a single request for a few days, it did freeze, and
that on repeated occasions.

Problem manipulating files when a replica is down
We currently have a small pilot gluster setup as Replica 2 + 1 (arbiter)
As a DR test we decided to see that to see what would happen when taking
one of the replicas offline. For the first couple of hours everything
seemed fine and then one of my colleagues tried to a directory with files
via samba from a windows client by using robocopy.
At this point it starting to go wrong. The brick went

Scripting rsync against a filesystem with a quota
Hello,
I have a couple of questions about using rsync scriptographically. I've looked around and can't find anything. I must be missing something obvious.
I'm trying to write a script that will synchronise various local folders on a Mac OS X Workstation to an SMB mounted Windows (2003, mostly) Server where the user I'm copying as has a quota applied. I want to compare the

smpassswd unable to join domain.
Hello,
I have been trying for 3 days now to get smbpasswd to join my existing NT 4.0
domain, without success. The command I run is "smbpasswd -j CCH -r chrivdc01 -U
knoxth" (yes, userid knoxth has Administrative access). No luck. I've included
the output of adding -D 3 to the options line.
Can anyone help me figure out what is happening??
Thanks!

An old ld-linux.so hole
Section I. Overview
Hello,
About a half year ago there was some rumour on bugtraq concerning a buffer
overflow in Linux dynamic linkers, ld.so and ld-linux.so. You can take a look
at the beginning of the thread at http://www.geek-girl.com/bugtraq/1997_3/0089.html
to refresh old memories; I''ll capitalize anyway.
Briefly, there exists a buffer overrun in ld-linux.so versions 1.7.14,
