plotting moving range control chart
I have been having the same problem as poster Hodgess, below. It appears
that her question was never answered, so I would like to share a solution
with the community.
The problem is the (apparent?) inability to produce moving range process
behavior (a.k.a. "control") charts with individuals data in the package
"qcc" (v. 2.0). I have also struggled with the same limitation in

how to set chart output size in rgl (surface3d)?
Hi R users,
Does anyone know how to change the size of 3d charts? I'm using surface3d in
rgl package, opening a new window each time to display the chart. I want it
so that the chart fills the whole window, because when I output it to png, I
don't want all the white space around the chart (right now, i'm getting this
white "border" around the chart because the chart is

pie chart in lattice - trellis class
Dear all,
After going through the Lattice doc and R-help list and google, I got
the feeling that there is no function in lattice or other package to
compute a pie chart object of class "trellis". Although pie charts are
obviously not considered optimal even in the pie() doc ;-) , pie chart
trellis objects would be easy positioned e.g. over a map drawn with the
grids package.

Need to make a radar chart - any good ruby plugins for this?
Hey,
I need to make a radar chart (also called spider chart, star chart) and
am trying to see if there is a plugin for this.
GchartRB looked good, but I don''t see Radar Charts on here:

Does anyone know a good plugin or gem that will generate radar charts?

Stacked area chart and legends
I have found lots of good advice on this forum about stacked area charts but
I?ve run into problems with the 2 recommended options: stackploy in plotrix
or qplot in ggplot2. I have a many page report that will be in a 2x2 page
format ?par(mfrow=c(2,2))?? and need one of the page components to be a
stacked chart.
I?d prefer to use stackpoly, if possible, but I?m stuck on how to do the

I am having a problem with a gantt chart since

I made some adaptations to the code from
http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/RGraphGallery.php?graph=74

when I upgraded to 2.4.0 it no longer works as
desired. See

with PowerPoint and ThinkCell one can draw something they call waterfall
chart and it looks like this:

I found discussions on waterfall charts in the archive of this
mailinglist, but unfortunately they looked totally different. Other
names for this type of plot seem to be bridge chart, cascade chart,

pie charts. For the small wedges, many of the labels overlap making it
impossible to read. Is there any way to offset the labels so that they

Adding percentage to Pie Charts (was (no subject))
Have you read the books by Cleveland?
His experiments show that most people do better estimating things and
comparing things on a linear scale rather than looking at angles and

Bar chart: break long bars
Dear all,
I have a problem with my stacked bar charts. I have one very long bar, hence
I would like to break the x-axis at a certain point so that the shorter bars

x <- runif(30, 0, 100)
y <- runif(30, 0, 100)
x[5] <-500
