Title for graph with multiple plots
Dear R Users, I am attempting to place a title to a graph with multiple plots that should go across the top of all the graphs, and not just one of them. I am using mfrow in par to plot. Can anyone suggest if and how this could be done ? Thanks in advance, Tolga

Plotting Text on a graph
Hi, I plotted 12 graphs on a page and output to a png file. I wanted to have an overall title for all 12 graphs. What command can I use to do this? Below is the code that plotted the 12 graphs in one page. # FM10 by Month/ Export the plot to Wash2005FM10.png png(file="Wash2005FM10.png",bg="white") par(mfrow = c(3,4)) # Plot 12 Month of OFM10, FFM10 for(i in

difference between nlm and nlminb
Hi, I was wondering if someone could give a brief, big picture overview of the difference between the two optimization functions nlm and nlminb. I'm not familiar with PORT routines, so I was hoping someone could give an explanation. Overall Legend
Hello. I am using R version 2.1.1 on Windows 2000. I am using a par(mfrow=c(2,2)) statement to produce 4 plots on one screen. I want a single horizontal legend to appear at the top of the four plots. My code is something like this: par(mfrow=c(2,2)) plot(x,y1) lines(x,y2) lines(x,y3) plot(x,z1) lines(x,z2) lines(x,z3) plot(x,t1) lines(x,t2) lines(x,t3) plot(x,w1) lines(x,w2) lines(x,w3)

merging 3 data sets at once
Hi All, I am looking into merging 3 data sets I know how to do that by merging data1 with data2 and then merging the result with data 3. I was wondering if it can be done all at once so I tried, M<-merge(data1,data2,data3, by=?ID?) It does not work! Any ideas? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/merging-3-data-sets-at-once-tp17658873p17658873.html Sent from the R help

A question about stepwise procedures: step function
Dear all, I tried to use "step" function to do model selection, but I got an error massage. What I don't understand is that data as data.frame worked well for my other programs, how come I cannot make it run this time. Could you please tell me how I can fix it? ***************************************************************************************************

multi-panel figure: overall title for each row
Dear all, I have a 3x2 plot and in addition to the title of the individual plots I would like to have an overall title for each row. I managed to get an overall title for the whole plot matrix with mtext: par(mfrow=(c(3,2)), mar=c(6.4,4.5,4.2, 1.8), oma=c(0,0,3,0)) for (i in 1:6) barplot(sample(1:10,5), main=paste("Plot #",i)) mtext("Overall Title Row 1", outer=TRUE) but I

greek in main title
Hello, I have written a function that demonstrates the CLT by generating samples following the exponential distribution, calculating the means, plotting the histogram, and drawing the limiting normal curve as an overlay. I have the title of each histogram state the sample size and rate (1/theta) for the exponential (the output is actually 4 histograms), but I can't get the greek letter theta

Overall Title in par(mfrow)
Hi, Say I did something like: par(mfrow = c(1, 2)) plot(1:10) plot(1:10) and I'd like to have an overall title, i.e. a title that would appear, centered, on the top of both plots, rather than the top of the last plot. I tried: title("FOO", outer = T) but it doesn't appear right. Half of the FOO is outside the figure region and can't be seen... Is there another

Titles in plots overlap
Hi,   I use fCopulae package to draw different graphs of univariate and bivariate skew t.  But the plots titles overlap.  I tried using cex.main, font.main to adjust the size but they still overlaps.  Here is my code: par(mfrow = c(3, 1)) mu = 0 Omega = 1 alpha1 = 0 alpha2 = 1.5 alpha3 = 2 alpha4 = 0.5 Z1 = matrix(dmvst(x, 1, mu, Omega, alpha1, df = Inf), length(x)) Z2 = matrix(dmvst(x, 1, mu,

How to join two plotmath type expressions
If I have two variables set, one of which holds an expression, for example: > label <- 'Temperature' > unit <- expression(paste(degree,'C')) how can I join them together for use in mtext (or equivalent)? The following is conceptually what I want to do, but will obviously not work: > plot(0:1) > mtext(paste(label, unit)) Preferably, I would like this to work

help with the use of mtext to create main title over multiple plots
I'm trying to use mtext to create a main title over multiple plots. Below is a simple self-contained example and my sessionInfo (I should note I've also tried this with R-2.8.1 with the same results). When I execute the code chunk below, I get the plots, but no title. I've tried this using the screen driver, pdf, and postscript. I've used different sizes of paper. I suspect I am

creating overall title for plots made with par(mfrow=c(2,2))
I'm making some plots on the same page and would like to include an overall title instead of individual main titles as they are similar and their x and y axis labels are sufficient to distinguish them. Is there a way to assign an overall "main" to this page of plots? Mark -- Mark W. Kimpel MD ** Neuroinformatics ** Dept. of Psychiatry Indiana University School of Medicine 15032

Multicolor main title in a plot or mtext
Dear R-users, the problem I'm facing today is to write a multicolor main title in a plot. I would like to have 3/4 colors to help people in the audience to visually realize what is what in a 4x2 plot array On top of each plot I would like to have two lines. The 1st line will indicate what is plotted The 2nd line will indicate a a reference Graphically speaking I would like a result similar

mtext in trellis-loop & colorkey
Hello, I would like to create a sequence of plots (using a for loop). I read in the FAQ that print() has to be used in order to obtain any output. This works perfectly fine as long as I only consider one function call in the loop, but I would like to add mtext() to the each plot in the loop. Unfortunately, this did not work. Any suggestions? As you can see from the provided example,

Single Title for the Multiple plot page
Dear List, In R we can plot multiple graphs in same page using par(mfrow = c(*,*)). In each plot we can set title using main and sub commands. However, is there any way that we can place an universal title above the set of plots placed in the same page (not individual plot titles, all i need is a title of the whole graph page) as well as sib-titles? Do I need any package to do so? Thank you

[cfe-dev] clang in official apt repo built without z3 support
I _think_ there is a problem with the license as well: Z3 is MIT, so clang would have to be released with Z3's license. title for plot contain 4 subplots
Hi, I'm plotting 4 graphs on one page (2x2 matrix) but I cant seem to get the title for the whole page right.
