wireplot margins and additional z-axis
Dear R experts, it would be very kind if you could help me with two wireplot problems. First, when I make a wireplot and transform it into an .eps using the postscript function the eps-file leaves always a lot of space below the plot, as if it would leave space for a legend or something like that. How can i get the plot into the bottom corner without the space below? The space is not there when

Tail area of sum of Chi-square variables
Dear R experts, I was wondering if there are any R functions that give the tail area of a sum of chisquare distributions of the type: a_1 X_1 + a_2 X_2 where a_1 and a_2 are constants and X_1 and X_2 are independent chi-square variables with different degrees of freedom. Lattice zoo plot: no x ticks on first panel
Hi all, I want to use lattice v0.17-4 on R 2.6.2 to draw a panel of time series of zoo objects (zoo v1.5-0). Everything works until I try to separate panels a bit and show only the bottom axis line with tick marks on every panel (but not axis labels, which I want only on the bottom panels). I've tried several approachs, and the best I've got for showing only the bottom axis line and

Installing the Zoo Library.
Hi Ya'll I'm trying to install the zoo library... I've downloaded about 5 or 6 of their releases (inc. the latest one), all of them giving me the same syntax error when trying to install... Anyone seen this problem before? its not the "lib" argument that is the problem (ive been installing other packages using this exact format with no problem... just zoo is the problem.

How to use formulas for multivariate clustered data?
Dear R experts, I wrote already a couple of weeks ago but did not get any reply. Therefore I'll rephrase my question and hope some of you can give me some answers or some advice where better to look for an answer. In general I'm looking for information on how to program functions using formulas in order to write a nonparametric multivariate regression function with possible

Sweave:Figures from plot (LME output) not getting generated (pdf or eps)
Hi, I seem to be facing a strange problem when I use Sweave for creating a LaTeX document of the R lme() output --- The EPS and PDF figure files get created, but are empty. I have attached a reproducible example below (taken from the R lme() help example). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ \documentclass[a4paper,10pt]{article}

different results on linux and windows
Dear R experts, we are preparing an R-package to compute the Oja Median which contains some C++ code in which random numbers are needed. To generate the random numbers we use the following Mersenne-Twister implementation: // MersenneTwister.h // Mersenne Twister random number generator -- a C++ class MTRand // Based on code by Makoto Matsumoto, Takuji Nishimura, and Shawn Cokus // Richard J.

Why is R so slow at plotting on Ubuntu 9.04?
under Ubuntu 9.04 R seems to be very slow at plotting. the example below illustrates with a plot of error bars of sample means where i watch as each error bar is plotted one at a time. very annoying and pain in the neck when running Sweave repeatedly. running R 2.9.1 under Windoze on the same machine the error bars plotted in the code below appear instantaneously. has anyone else noticed this

Hi All: I get the following error when trying to install the rjags package. I've installed the jags software and I'm using Fedora 10.0 and my sessionInfo is at the bottom of this email. I'm also sorry if this email ends up having control A's all over it. I still haven't figured how to fix that. Thanks. [1] "LOADING MASS LIBRARY" checking for

question about using _apply and/or aggregate functions
Hi R-list, I'll apologize in advance for (1) the wordiness of my note (not sure how to avoid it) and (2) any deficiencies on my part that lead to my difficulties. I have an application with several stages that is meant to simulate and explore different scenarios with respect to product sales (in units sold per month). My session info is at the bottom of this note. The steps include (1) an

inconsistency between timeSeries and zoo causing a problem with rbind
Dear R Users and maintainers of packages zoo and timeSeries, I believe there is a recently introduced inconsistency between timeSeries and zoo which is causing a problem with rbind. I had previously reported that I was having problems with rbind in the following code: library(zoo) foo<-zoo(1,order.by=as.Date("2007-10-09")) bar<-zoo(2,order.by=as.Date("2007-10-10"))

optimization problem
Dear R-experts, this is not a direct R-problem but I hope you can help me anyway. I would like to minimize || PG-I || over P, where P is a p x p permutation matrix (obtained by permuting the rows and/or columns of the identity matrix), G is a given p x p matrix with full rank and I the identity matrix. ||.|| is the frobenius norm. Does anyone know an algorithm to solve such a problem? And if

Plot-region not complete
Hello there, after I solved many problems in the last days with R I wanted to complete my plot. I used ylab=expression(paste("log(",mu,"/",cm^2,"/VS)")) to have greek symbols and to change cm^2 to cm?. Also cm^-3 I have in another plot, but it cuts my ^2 to _ in the y-axis. here is the code and I attach the plot: jpeg(file="Tabh2.jpg",quality=100)
