boxplot - label outliers
Hi All-
I have 24 boxplots on one graph. I do not have the whiskers extending
to the outliers, but I would like to label the maximum value of each
outlier above the whiskers. I have the stats but am having trouble
figuring out how to label the whiskers.
Any suggestions would be great!

How to hide tick lines behind the "box-and-whisker" 's in a boxplot
Dear R people,
I wonder how to hide tick lines behind other figures in a plot, e.g.
in a boxplot.
# Sample code:
x<- c(rep(4,50),rep(5,20),rep(6,50),rnorm(20,5,1))
boxplot(x)
axis(2,tck=1,col.ticks='grey',lty=5 )
# end of sample code
The tick lines is put on top of the box-plot, but I would like to put
these lines behind the box and whiskers..

Labelling boxplot with fivenumber summary
I am very new to R so forgive me if this seems basic but I have done extensive searching and failed to come up with the answer for myself.
I am trying to label a boxplot I have created with the values for the median, upper and lower quartiles and max and min values. I have been unable to do this or find anything on the net to say how it might be done. Is this possible and if so how? Regards,

Label / Tick under single Boxplot
Hi!
I am trying to get the tick / label under a stacked
boxplot with only a single
data row. With >=2 rows it works, but with a single
one the tick resp. my class
name is not printed below the boxplot. Can anybody
point me to what am I doing
wrong?
For example:
boxplot(data.frame(c(3,4,5)),names=list("a"),beside=F)
Here, I would like to have the "a" below the single

controlling the x axis of boxplots
v 2.0.1 (sooooh old!) on Win2k
I think I know the answer to this but I can hope ...
I have data for continuous variables (measures of residents) by a
categorical variable in range (1,22), the units in which they live.
I want to plot these data with a pair of boxplots one above another
with same x-axis (1,22) using par(mfrow=c(2,1)) and then plotting
first for the women then for the men.

ask help about boxplot , different list variation into the tick of x-axis?
Hi ,everyone.
I want to draw a boxplot figure, main script shown as below. when I
run the command "boxplot(bjavee~yearname)",it is wrong with the error
information " model.frame.default(formula = bjavee ~ yearname) :
variation 'bjavee' list is wrong".
I want to add the yearname as the x-axis tick. And yearname is a array
with the length 12,while bjavee is a 5*12

side by side boxplots
Good Morning,
I am trying to get side by side boxplots of two groups on the
same variable. The last item under ?boxplot led me to some useful
code.
I use "boxwex" to make the boxes narrower, "at" to shift them
over and "add" to draw them both on the same graph. Something along
the lines of:
attach(group1)
boxplot(Y~X, col="blue", boxwex=.4,

accessing the indices of outliers in a data frame boxplot
I have a data frame containing columns which are factors. I use this
to make boxplots for the data, with one box per factor. I would now
like to get at the data in the data frame which corresponds to the
outliers. I have so far found the $out, which gives "the values of any
data points which lie beyond the extremes of the whiskers", but I
haven't found anything which will let me get

Alphabetical sequence of data along the x-axis in a box plot
Hello All,
I noticed when I generated some boxplots, the data is presented in
alphabetical order along the x-axis (the data in this case was the four
quandrants of a sample area (NE,NW, SE, SW) that was my first column of
data). Is there a way to have R plot the data in a different order? I
imagine you could use a dummy variable, but didn't know if there might
be a simple argument that

Multi-page plots (Trellis)
Dear All -
I would like to make multi-page plots, but my plots are writing over one
another - thus leaving just the last plot. Here is what I am doing:
pollutionRose(temp, "nox", type="hour")
update(trellis.last.object(), layout =c(3,3,3) )
I would like 24 plots with 9 plots/page (the last page would not have 9
plots)
Is there any way to "force" layout to make 3

Order of boxes in boxplot()
Hi
Sorry for such an inane question - how do I control the order in which
the boxes are plotted using boxplot() when I pass it a formula and a
data.frame? It seems that the groups are plotted in alphabetical
order... I want to change this....
Many thanks

Specifying data point locations on x-axis using boxplot() and points()
Hi all,
I would like to ask a question with regard to R graphics. I am currently
trying to add data points in boxplots using points(). In my script, I add
up boxplots three times using add=TRUE. I use points() every time I add
boxplots, and I see data points. However, I see all data points are clustered
at three specific points on x-axis; the locations of the data points
are not overlapping with
