Seeking a more efficient way to read in a file
Hi. I have a matrix stored in a large, tab-delimited flat file. The first row contains column names. Because the matrix is symmetric, the file has lower triangular format, so the second row contains one number, the third row two numbers, etc. In general, row k+1 contains k numbers; the matrix has 3000 rows, so the file has 3001 rows. The file has variable length records, so each row ends

1-SE rule in mvpart
Hello, I'm using mvpart option xv="1se" to compute a regression tree of good size with the 1-SE rule. To better understand 1-SE rule, I took a look on its coding in mvpart, which is : Let z be a rpart object , xerror <- z$cptable[, 4] xstd <- z$cptable[, 5] splt <- min(seq(along = xerror)[xerror <= min(xerror) + xvse * xstd]) I interprete this as following: the

Weird internaldate behavior with 1.0-test80 and mbox folder
Has anyone else encountered weird date behavior with mbox-style folders? I am nearly ready to bite the bullet and convert my UW imap hierarchy (which is in mbx format) to Dovecot. In so doing, I need to convert each UW-specific mbx-format mailboxes to the more portable mbox format, which Dovecot can read. (This is done with the 'mbxcvt' utility that's part of UW.) I am then

RELENG_7_1: bce driver change generating too much interrupts ?
Since last upgrade, I see much more CPU time "eated" by interrupts (at least 10% cpu in top) (see http://dgeo.perso.ec-marseille.fr/cpu-week.png) The server behave correctly (Or seems to?), and high interrupt number seems to come from bce cards (source: systat -vmstat) I just upgraded from "RELENG_7 Mon Sep 8 12:33:06 CEST 2008" to "RELENG_7_1 Sat Nov 29 16:20:35 CET

kalman
Hi all! I'm sure this must have been asked many times before but here goes anyway. I'm looking for a kalman filter in R for ar(i)ma time series. I'm sure there must be one around but it does not seem to be in either ts or tseries packages? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Gerard Keogh The information in this email, and any attachments transmitted with it, are confidential and are

General Matrix Inverse
Generalised Inverse: The Moore-Penrose Generalisied Inverse is probably better defined as a pseudo-Inverse that arises in solving least squares problems. Another well known pseudo-Inverse is the so-called Drazin pseudo-Inverse. If memory serves (and it's been 10-12 years!) it can be obtained via a diagonalisation. Anyway, I dare say Prof. Ripley (among others) probably has "all the

overlay plots
Hi all! I new to R (I don't know anything about S+ either!) I've a simple question: How do I generate overlay plots in R? So far as I can see the plot(x, y) operator will only give me one graph and the plot(x ~ y + z) will give me 2 separate plots. Is there an easy way to overlay or am I missing the obvious? Any help welcome. Gerard Keogh The information in this email, and any

[PATCH] nv50, nvc0: initialize ctx->sample_mask to ~0
Commit 95bf222603b (cso_context: Fix cso_context::sample_mask initial value.) fixed the cso sample mask to be initialized to ~0. The cso code is also careful not to needlessly call set_sample_mask, so we ended up with the ctx->sample_mask never being set. This broke a number of EXT_framebuffer_multisample piglit tests. Hello again! thanks to all who helped with overlay plots - v. easy in the end. Anyway, another new(ba)bee type question - the gurus will cringe I'm sure! Q. simple R function mm <- function (u) { x <- u$GDP x m <- mean(x) m } When the function is called the vector "x" does not get printed from within the function, but the mean value "m" does, why? I

[RFC] tegra: Initial support
Tegra K1 and later use a GPU that can be driven by the Nouveau driver. But the GPU is a pure render node and has no display engine, hence the scanout needs to happen on the Tegra display hardware. The GPU and the display engine each have a separate DRM device node exposed by the kernel. To make the setup appear as a single device, this driver instantiates a Nouveau screen with each instance of a

multinomial probit
Is there any library for fitting multinomial probit using either likelihood or the "method of simulated moments" or both. I presume it would be possible to write a family function in VGAM for the multinomial probit, but was hoping that someone has done it already. Thanking you as always. Vumani Dlamini CSO-Swaziland
