Installing R in Ubuntu
Hello, I am new to Ubuntu (Linux in general) and I am trying to install R: so far, I am stuck. I have followed the instructions at the CRAN website with little luck. I read an exchange about the same issue posted before, but did not give me enough information to solve things by myself, hence, this email. Based on the former exchange I read, I am trying to include enough information to see if

amd64 packages for ubuntu hardy version mismatch?
Hi, Trying to do a fresh install of R 2.7.2 packages on an AMD64 server running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and have run into some problems - version of r-base-core for AMD64 appears to not match version of other packages including r-base and r-recommended and so install fails. The deb packages for r-base-core_2.7.2-1hardy1_amd64 don't appear to have been built yet. Guessing this is an AMD64

Install R 4 on Chromebook (unmet dependencies)
Hello, I have tried to upgrade R to 4.0. I have added `deb http://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian buster-cran40/` to `/etc/apt/sources.list` (but I removed cran35). Btu when I run `apt-get update; apt-get install r-base r-base-dev` I get an error. I think it depends on r-base-core, since it depends on these obsolete libraries: ``` $ sudo apt-get install r-base-core Reading package lists...

using image to show RGB image data ?
Hello all, I'm now using image() to show image data (in my case dumps of SOM weights) but would like to show RGB colour data, not just single "z" colour values. I've currently been using seq() to skip 4 values, so I can show the R, G or B channels separately as "z". But is there a way I can show all three channels simultaneously as a proper colour image? Thanks, B.

difficulty in Ubuntu 14.04 apt-getting R 3.3.2
Hi: I have a Dockerfile, which builds an image which installed R 3.3.2 in Ubuntu 14.04, but building using that Dockerfile seems to have stopped working and I am unclear why. I believe the relevant error is: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet

Comparing/diffing strings

It breaks down however, when you have two long strings to compare: > all.equal(a, b) [1] "1 string mismatch" Does any one know of any good text diffing tools implemented in R? a very particular plot
Hi all, Thanks for the really great help I've received on this board in the past. I have a very particular graph that I'm trying to plot, and I'm not really sure how to do it. I think I should be able to use ggplot for this, but I'm not really sure how. I have a data.frame which contains fifty sub frames containing one hundred data points each. I can do a histogram of each of
