merge table rows (\multirow)
Hi: I need help merging rows. I am trying to merge the 'Month' column using \multirow. For example for the column 'Week' I want July to be merged into one row(weeks 27,28,29,30) and so on for the following weeks. Below, I am creating a PDF using Sweave, MikTex,R-2.8.1 and windows XP to show an example. \documentclass[11pt]{article} \usepackage{longtable,verbatim} \title{How to

Hmisc-xtable label
Dear all: Does anybody know about label conflicts between xtable and Hmisc? I found a couple of e-mails similar to this problem but is not clear to me how to get around the label problem. The first table(longtable below) is generated with the latex function from Hmisc but for some reason when I try to hyperlink to it,it takes me to the top of the document. The second table created with the xtable

Match strings across two differently sized dataframes and copy corresponding row to dataframe
Hello- Sorry, this is a bit of a noob question, but I can't seem to progress it any further. I have two dataframes which contain a series of strings which exactly match. The problem is one has more rows than the other (more cases have been added) and they have been sorted so that they are not in the same order. The smaller dataframe, though, contains in another column which has codes

R cmd batch with parameters
hello! I'm trying to make a very simple calculation using R that would called from bash with two parameters, the names of the input and output files. the first one is just an 4 by 100 numerical table- the function finds the index of the maximal elements in each columns and writes it into the output file. I cannot deal somehow with passing the parameters to the function it works from R with the

xtable.by
Hi all, I have a series of measurements made over different types of road surfaces and capacity that I want to summarize in tables via LaTeX. Ideally I'd like a table similar to this ( http://www.andy-roberts.net/misc/latex/tutorial4/multirow.png ) with mean/SD of the measurement broken down by road type (both surface and capacity). Ideally it would be extensible so that when I add layers

How to use `[` without evaluating the arguments.
Hello R-devel, I am currently attempting to implement an API similar to data.table wherein single bracket subsetting can accept an unquoted expression to be evaluated in the context of my object. A simple example from the data.table package looks like this: DT <- data.table(col1 = c('a', 'b', 'c'), col2 = c('x', 'y', 'z')) DT[col1 ==

Dear R-helper, I am working on a very large data frame and I am trying to add a new column and write in it with certain conditions. I have try to use this code with the data frame p : ID = 0 p[,"newColumn"]<- ifelse (p$flagFoehn3_durr == 1, ifelse(p$Guetsch == 0, ID <<- ID ++ , ID ) , 0 ) What I am trying to do

modifying xtable output
I have been using the xtable package to export great latex tables and am very pleased with the package. Is there a way to modify the format of the tables: (1) some of my tables are to long to fit on a single page. I would like to modify the xtable to produce a longtable compatible with the longtable.sty in latex. Are these modifications possible and if so where are they documented? (2) Is it

xtable feature addition suggestion
Hi, attached follows a patch to add a feature that I think it would be useful having in the print.xtable function of the xtable package. It adds the option 'tabular.environment' to that function, which could be used to set an alternative tabular environment, as the name already suggests. This is particulary useful when dealing with long tables, which do not fit in a single page. In the

Hmisc latex function with longtable option
Hello - I'm trying to use Hmisc's latex function to produce a postscript file of a data.frame, using the longtable = TRUE option. When I run, for example, ## sample R code dvips(latex(data.frame(a = rnorm(100), b = rnorm(100)), longtable = TRUE), file = "test.ps") latex runs successfully and a test.ps file is produced. However, I see the following in the

Inserting column in between -- "better" way?
Folks: I consider my reply below rather clumsy: One has to keep track of index numbers other than that which is inserted and must separately change column names. Is there as "essentially better" way to do this, either via base R or via an R package. I leave it to you to define "essentially better." Thanks. Fill down a new column in data frame with a number
Hi, I am a begginer in R programming. I am traying to create a a column in my data frame filled down with a number. > df$newcolumn <- number How can I do it? I am considering use rep() but in this case it is necessary know the number of rows in each data base that I have and I would like to do it in a faster ( and more elegant) way.
