Working with Sweave: inverse search?
The xdvi and yap DVI viewers allow inverse (aka reverse) search: you
click on a location in the output display, and your editor moves to the
corresponding location in the input file. yap at least also allows
forward search, where you can have your editor tell it to location where
a particular input line is displayed.
I would like something like this to work in Sweave files. That is, I

Installing R+Emacs+MikTeX editor on a USB drive
Hi R-users,
Since it has been already asked for several times, I would like to share my
solution
that I have gathered from several sources on internet for portable
R+Emacs+MikTeX.
This may also help some future R-users.
My best,

Error in texi2dvi
Hello:
Changes in R seem to have broken the sos vignette, and I don't
know how to fix it. The build on R-forge,
"https://r-forge.r-project.org/R/?group_id=235&log=build_src&pkg=sos&flavor=patched",
ends as follows:
Error in texi2dvi(file = file, pdf = TRUE, clean = clean, quiet = quiet, :

Does CentOS support aspell?
I haven't run CentOS on a machine of my own for several years;
but my domain (NOT the address I post from) is hosted on a machine
running CentOS. The list for the mailer I run recommends using aspell,
which is not installed (according to rpm -q) on the remote host, as a
spellchecker.
Does anybody here know offhand if CentOS supports it? Or how do I
check?

survConcordance with 'counting' type Surv()
Dear Prof. Therneau
I was impressed to discover that the 'survConcordance' now handles Surv() objects in counting format (example below to clarify what I mean). This is not documented in the help page for the function. I am very curious to see how a c-index is estimated in this case, using just the linear predictors. It was my impression that with left truncation the ordering of

Bizarre problem - happens only under XP and not 2000
I have a very strange problem, which no one has been able to fathom to
this point so I'm hoping that someone here may have encountered
something similar. I'd better note down some background details first.
Relevant machines involved:

Help With Sweave:
Hi All,
I am running Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) on a Thinkpad T41. I've installed
the nowebm package for Ubuntu. Working from this HowTo:
http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~leisch/Sweave/example-1.Snw
I try to compile the example *.Snw as in the Sweave manual:

Can't open output file
Despite the error, a *.tex file is produced. Now I am

Can't get Sweave syntax highlighting with Emacs
I can't get Emacs to automatically do syntax highlighting of
Sweave files. I have followed Friedrich's suggestion for code
to insert into my .emacs file. The complete section from my .emacs
file is given below. When I load a *.Snw file, font is white until I press
M-x, then the first code and document chunks get highlighted, but not
the rest of the file. Latex and Noweb menus are

Setting up Xemacs + Sweave
Dear list,
I have tried to setup my Xemacs for use with Sweave, which I indend to learn.
I have followed the instructions in the Sweave FAQ, that is to say, I put
(defun Rnw-mode ()
(require 'ess-noweb)
(noweb-mode)
(if (fboundp 'R-mode)
(setq noweb-default-code-mode 'R-mode)))
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.Rnw\\'" . Rnw-mode))

Turning off spell checker in TextCtrl
Hi,
I''m running WxRuby2 on Mac OS X. Something is spell checking the text
that I put into it; words it doesn''t recognize get an annoying red
line under them. How can I turn the spell checker off?
Thanks,

Sweave driver extension
Almost all of the coxme package and an increasing amount of the survival
package are now written in noweb, i.e., .Rnw files. It would be nice to
process these using the Sweave function + a special driver, which I can
do using a modified version of Sweave. The primary change is to allow
the following type of construction
<<coxme>>
coxme <- function(formula, data, subset, blah blah

Sweave and Xemacs on Windows2000?
Hallo!
Trying to configure Xemacs to work with .snw files on windows 2000. Tried to do it how it is described in the FAQ for Sweaves.
When starting xemacs with and Snw file
*ESS* buffer contains hundrets of lines and the few last ones.

TinyMCE / Spellcheck integration with rails
Just wanted to post a link to my blog about how I integrated TinyMCE''s
aspell based spell checker into Ruby on Rails. The default configuration
required PHP so I rolled my own.

I think it works great and you can try it out on our review pages, comment
pages and blog pages on http://www.gusto.com/

Code editor for writing R code
Presumably there's nothing stopping you *writing* LaTeX in comments
-- do you want a code editor that will render and display the LaTeX as
you write? (Or am I misunderstanding something?)
Does anyone do classic literate programming *sensu* Knuth any more?

R users,
I'm at a loss with a problem considering running .tex files produced

Sweave encoding problem
Hello,
Sweave seems to have trouble processing german letters in R.
For example, my noweb R-input looks like this.

If I send it through Sweave, I get the following error message.
