A question about lme object
I have a question about the lme function in R. My question is: After I got
the object from function lme, why the numIter value of the object is always
NULL? Following is my code:
jjww<-lme(y~x*zz,data=simul,random=~x|group,
control=lmeControl(returnObject=TRUE))
attributes(jjww)
jjww$numIter
the first 20 observation of data simul are:

lme
I am using rw0641.
In my continuing quest to understand repeated measures analysis, I again
return to lme. I exported the Potthoff and Roy data Orthodont.dat from
S-PLUS 4.5 to avoid capture errors and ran the examples in the R help. I
imported the data.frame with
data <- read.table("Orthodont.dat",header=T)
attach(data)
and created the objects
Orthodont.fit1 <-

memory issue
Hello,
I received the following question from a company I am working with:
We are having issues with our early experiments with ZFS with volumes
mounted from a 6130.
Here is what we have and what we are seeing:
T2000 (geronimo) on the fibre with a 6130.
6130 configured with UFS volumes mapped and mounted on several
other hosts.
it''s the only host using ZFS volume (only

lme: null deviance, deviance due to the random effects, residual deviance
A maybe trivial and stupid question:
In the case of a lm or glm fit, it is quite informative (to me) to have
a look to the null deviance and the residual deviance of a model. This
is generally provided in the print method or the summary, eg:
Null Deviance: 658.8
Residual Deviance: 507.3
and (a bit simpled minded) I like to think that the proportion of
deviance 'explained' by the

Problem with a while loop embedded in a function.
Hello all.
I have been working on a (fairly simple) function for way too long. I’ve really hit a wall and I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have (attempted) to create a function that has an embedded while loop. The while loop works fine by itself, however, when the while loop is embedded in the function, the function fails. I’m not sure why this

Re: Difference between ZFS and UFS with one LUN froma SAN
This may not be the answer you''re looking for, but I don''t know if it''s
something you''ve thought of. If you''re pulling a LUN from an expensive
array, with multiple HBA''s in the system, why not run mpxio? If you ARE
running mpxio, there shouldn''t be an issue with a path dropping. I have

nlme graphics in a loop problem
Hi, I'm fitting mixed effects models using the lme function of the nlme
package. This involves using the various associated plot functions.
However, when I attempt to fit a number of models using an loop, whilst
the models work, the plot functions fail. As a trivial example, the
following works:
library(nlme)
graphics.off()
x<-c(1:10)
y<-c(1:4,7:12)

How to pass eval.max from lme() to nlminb?
Dear R community,
I'm fitting a complex mixed-effects model that requires numerous
iterations and function evaluations. I note that nlminb accepts a
list of control parameters, including eval.max. Is there a way to
change the default eval.max value for nlminb when it is being called
from lme?
Thanks for any thoughts,
Andrew

ZIL controls in Solaris 10 U4?
Is it true that Solaris 10 u4 does not have any of the nice ZIL controls
that exist in the various recent Open Solaris flavors? I would like to
move my ZIL to solid state storage, but I fear I can''t do it until I
have another update. Heck, I would be happy to just be able to turn the
ZIL off to see how my NFS on ZFS performance is effected before spending
the $''s. Anyone
