help with zicounts
Dear UseRs:
I have simulated data from a zero-inflated Poisson model, and would like
to use a package like zicounts to test my code of fitting the model.
My question is: can I use zicounts directly with the following simulated
data?
Create a sample of n=1000 observations from a ZIP model with no intercept
and a single covariate x_{i} which is N(0,1). The logit part is
logit(p_{i})=x_{i}*beta

zeroinfl() or zicounts() error
I'm trying to fit a zero-inflated poisson model using zeroinfl() from the
pscl library. It works fine for most models I try, but when I include either
of 2 covariates, I get an error.
When I include "PopulationDensity", I get this error: Error in solve.default
(as.matrix(fit$hessian)) : system is computationally singular:
reciprocal condition number = 1.91306e-34

Error message when using zero-inflated count regression model in package zicounts
I have data on number of vines per tree for ~550 trees. Over half of
the trees did not have any vines and the data is fairly skewed
(median = 0, mean = 1.158, 3rd qu. = 1.000). I am attempting to
investigate whether plot location (four sites), species (I'm using
only the four most common species), or tree dbh has a significant
influence on the number of vines per tree. When I

Very new to R so bear with me, running 5.2 on XP. Trying to do a zero-inflated negative binomial regression on placental scar data as dependent. Lactation, location, number of tick larvae present and mass of mouse are independents. Dataframe and attributes below:

Vuong test
Hi,
I have two questions. First, I'd like to compare a ZINB model to a negativ
binomial model with the Vuong test, but I can't find how to performe it from
the zicount package. Does a programm exist to do it ?
Second, I'd like to know in which cases we have to use a double hurdle model
instead of a zero inflated model.
Many thanks,

Description of Shares in Windows
On my Windows XP and 200 boxes the shares that I have mapped in a login
script have their descriptions set to the following:
downloads on 'Samba Sever 2.2.6pre2' (M:)
This would be fine if I had set server string = Samba Server %v in the
smb.conf file.
However I have this set to server string = Samba.
When I browse the network on the Windows boxes the correct description

Newbie
Hello,
I'm a bit new to the world of R so forgive my ignorance. I'm trying to do a zero-inflated negative binomial regression and have received an error message and i'm not sure what it means. I'm running R 2.5.1 on XP. I have just tried a really simple version of the model to see if it would run before I put all the variables in. I have attached all the variables to the

Double hurdle model in R
I am interested in utilizing this so called "double hurdle" model
in my study. We can write the model in the following way:
if (z'a + u > 0 & x'b + e > 0) y = x'b + e, else y = 0
In the model, consumption y is the (left-) censored dependent variable. e
and u are the normally distributed error terms. z'a is the participation
equation and x'b is the

Summary: GLMMs: Negative Binomial family in R
Here is a summary of responses to my original email (see my query at the
bottom). Thank you to Achim Zeileis , Anders Nielsen, Pierre Kleiber and Dave
Fournier who all helped out with advice. I hope that their responses will help
some of you too.

All subsets regression
Hey folks,
I'm trying to do all subsets on a zero-inflated poisson regression. I'm aware of the leaps and regsubsets functions but I don't know if they work for ZIP regressions or how the syntax fits in for them. Can anyone help?
The model syntax is:
> zip.zc <- zicounts(resp=Scars~.,x=~Location + Lar + Mass + Lac + Lar:Mass + Location:Mass, data = alan2,

GLMs: Negative Binomial family in R?
Greetings R Users!
I have a data set of count responses for which I have made repeated observations
on the experimental units (stream reaches) over two air photo dates, hence the
mixed effect. I have been using Dr. Jim Lindsey's GLMM function found in his
"repeated" measures package with the "poisson" family.
My problem though is that I don't think the poisson

Package portability issues
We have some new Solaris boxes (both Sparc and amd64), and as they are not
yet in production use I borrowed some time on them to run tests over CRAN
packages, using the Solaris make and Sun Studio compilers. The results
were quite depressing. Sun Studio 12 compilers are also available for
Linux, and there the problems are worse (for C++ code).

Problem in loading all packages all at once
Hi All
Please see the Rprofile file which i have modified as follows and after
that when I start R then I see that R says to me "TRUE" for all the
packages implying that all loaded at once.
But when i try to use commands as simple as help("lm"), it doesnt work nor
any of the menu "Packages" is not working.
Although the regression using lm ( Y ~ X ) is working

CENTOS and INTEL S775 C2D E6750 2.66G 1333 RTL
I am building a Centos machine for a specific piece of third party
software.
Can I assume that the IA64 verson of CENTOS 4.5 will run on this CPU?
Are there any differences in basic libraries between 4.0 and 4.5?

Upgrading subversion
Hello,
I?d like to install subversion system in our server (CentOS-4.4)
up2date has the subversion-1.1.4-2, but subversion is already
on verson 1.4.2
Perhaps I loose good features if I install subversion-1.1.x, but I
prefer to use the version delivered by up2date, of course.
1) What do you suggest?
If I try to install subversion-1.4.2 from source it asks for apr and
apr-util version 0.9.7 or
