Problem with dir.create (R2.2.0 Windows XP 2002 SP 2)
I've run into a problem with dir.create on R2.2.0 Windows XP 2002 SP 2.
setwd("d:/")
print(dir.create("d:\\otis-sim\\rdata", recursive=T))
print(dir.create("d:\\otis-sim\\", recursive=T))
Both return false and fail to create the directories.
setwd("c:/")

3com mba 4.30 problem
Hello All,
I seem to be having a problem with PXE under the 3com MBA
once the pxe loads the standard redhat 7.2 lilo prompt and
I type my label which is a4-72 and hit enter, I get:
Loading vmlinuz...
and it stops most of the time. Sometimes it loads and once it gets to
the part of installing linux the screen turns red and I
get "interrupt handler not syncing"
Thanks

Matrix Size
hi -
i just started using R as i am trying to figure out how perform a linear
regression on a huge matrix.
i am sure this topic has passed through the email list before but could
not find anything in the archives.
i have a matrix that is 2,000,000 x 170,000 the values right now are
arbitray.
i try to allocate this on a x86_64 machine with 16G of ram and i get the

2.4.14 + latest patch != ext3 support
Hello,
I just need a little clarification regarding applying the ext3 patch to the latest kernel.
I have 2.4.7-10 that came with RH 7.2.
I have ext3 running.
I need to upgrade those (to get some USB device working).
So I got the latest kernel, 2.4.14, patched it with the ext3-2.4-0.9.15-2414 patch, picked ext3 from 'make xconfig', built the kernel, but the new stuff in /boot, etc.,

r: functions
hi all
i have a function that uses two inputs, say xdata and ydata. An example
is the following,
simple1<-function(xdata,ydata)
{
ofit<-lm(ydata~xdata)
list(ofit)
}
say i use arbitray number for xdata and ydata such that
D =
x1 x2 y
1 1 10
2 6 6
3 10 7
x<-D[,1:2]
and
y<-D[,3]
if one uses these inputs and rund the program we get the following:
>simple(xdata=x,ydata=y)

glm and capture-recapture
Hello,
I am almost new in R, so perhaps my question will be silly.
I try to use R for analyzing capture-recapture data in epidemiology. A cancer registry has different sources of patients. We know in each list, patients already known in all other list. The aim is to use capture-recapture models for estimating the number of patients unknow of all the sources.
Because no order in sources, one

rsync for realtime filesystem replication.
Apologies in advance for a kind of long question:
I've written an application called changedfiles
(http://www.bangstate.com/software.html#changedfiles), which consists of two
parts: a linux kernel module that reports all file operations to a device
special, and a userspace daemon which can take arbitray shell action on files
matching regexp rules specified in a config file.

Starting estimates for nls Exponential Fit
Hello everyone,
I have come across a bit of an odd problem: I am currently analysing data
PCR reaction data of which part is behaving exponential. I would like to fit
the exponential part to the following:
y0 + alpha * E^t
In which Y0 is the groundphase, alpha a fluorescence factor, E the
efficiency of the reaction & t is time (in cycles)
I can get this to work for most of my reactions,

does asterisk work with other processors
Hello All,
I have tried numerous versions of asterisk from asterisk at home to
compiling it myself through the cvs server. I don't understand it works
fine with the intel p2 box but not the faster via cyrix box. Is it the
processor or something?

Can't HANGUP call or channel on 1.4.9
I've isolated this problem the furthest that I can, and I'm now convinced this is a bug in asterisk.
I have a context in extensions.conf like so:
[my_context]
exten => _X.,1,AGI(my_agi|${EXTEN}|${CHANNEL})
exten => _X.,2,GOTO(my_other_context|${EXTEN}|1)
exten => h,1,DeadAGI(my_agi_cleanup)
For the purposes of this scenario, my_agi simply will try to HANGUP the channel to

lapack
Has anyone gotten lapack to work on centos 7?
If so, how?
Most recently, I installed lapace-devel and let yum bring in what it wanted.
Whenever I try to link, I get a long list of undefined references ending with

Hey
I am now studying the statistical indepdence between
arbitray two random variables.
And want to use Cumulant or related method as
the starting point.
So anybody has some hints on providing me some
good textbooks or papers on cumulant or statistical
indepdence criteria?
Thanks a lot.

R support for 64 bit integers
Are integers strictly a signed 32 bit number on R even if I am running a 64
bit version of R on a x86_64 bit machine?
I ask because I have integers stored in a hdf5 file where some of the data
is 64 bit integers. When I read that into R using the hdf5 library it seems
any integer greater than 2**31 returns NA.
Any solutions?
Thanks,
Theo
