bandwidth estimation using bw.SJ
Hello All, When I use bw.SJ (based on Sheather & Jones, 1991) in R to estimate the bandwidth for a highly skewed data, I get the following message: "sample is too sparse to find TD". I played around with the parameters such as no. of bins (nb), lower, upper (range over which to minimize) to no avail. My sample size is 50,000. Can anyone tell me what this means and of some

Samba 3 + LDAP as PDC join domain problem
Hi all, I've setup Samba 3.0.5 + OpenLDAP (ldapsam) and everything work correctly. However, while my Windows 200x workstation join the domain, I need to join it twice. Here is what I do: 1. Go to Computer properties -> Computer Name -> Change 2. Enter the new domain name 3. Enter Administrator and password then, it will return me that the user name cannot be found. I've checked

Using the object of character data type as the name of the slot
Dear all, I have a character string object: > chara [1] "The name of first slot" and a list object: > class( try1) [1] "list" what I want to do is to use the chara as a slot's name of "try1". Of course I could do it like: > try1$"The name of first slot" <- matrix("", 3, 4) to create a slot of 3x4 matrix with the name

[LLVMdev] Relative addressing
The destination register and each of the source registers can be relatively addressed by some special "address registers": a0, a1, a2, a3. suppose a0 = 4, a1 = 2, the instruction add r[a0], r[a1], r7 equals to: r4 = r2 + r7 How should the instruction be defined in TableGen *.td file? If an opcode is defined for each variant (like X86InstrInfo.td) there will be eight opcodes

anyway to force rpart() to include a specific predictor
If I understand correctly, rpart() will pick predictor at each node automatically. I am wondering if there is a way to force rpart() including a specific predictor. The reason I am asking is that I'd like to use rpart() to detect interaction terms for some variables. Thanks.

n step ahead forecasts
hello, I have a question about making n step ahead forecasts in cases where test and validation sets are availiable. For instance, I would like to make one step ahead forecasts on the WWWusage data so I hold out the last 10 observations as the validation set and fit an ARIMA model on the first 90 observations. I then use a for loop to sequentially add 9 of the holdout observations to make 1

creating a station with internet explorer
Hey all, I didn't really get an answer to what I will need in order to create my internet station. I have a machine with Windows 7 that has Edcast installed on it, and I'd like to run the server from that machine. It has internet explorer 8, if that makes a difference. What software do I need to download to get broadcasting?

How to create a list of usernames and passwords request?
How I can create a list of usernames and passwords to restrict users to connect to listen to the broadcast? What I mean is that I do not want my transmission to be listened just by anyone. I want that for they can listen to the transmission they need to enter a user name and a password. Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

clustering
Hi, I just get a question (sorry if it is a dumb one) and I "phase" my question in the following R codes: group1<-rnorm(n=50, mean=0, sd=1) group2<-rnorm(n=20, mean=1, sd=1.5) group3<-c(group1,group2) Now, if I am given a dataset from group3, what method (discriminant analysis, clustering, maybe) is the best to cluster them by using R. The known info includes: 2 clusters,

time series clustering
Dear Listers: I happened to have a problem requiring time-series clustering since the clusters will change with time (too old data need to be removed from data while new data comes in). I am wondering if there is some paper or reference on this topic and there is some kind of implementation in R? Thanks, Weiwei -- Weiwei Shi, Ph.D "Did you always know?" "No, I did not. But I

need help
Hi, there: I think i need to re-phrase my question since last time I did not get any reply but i think the question is not that hard, probably i did not make the question clear: I want to find cases like 35, 90, 330, 330, 335 from the rest which look like 3, 3, 3, 3.2, 3.3 4, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 .... basically there is one (or more) big 'gap' in the case i seek. thanks, weiwei --
