openssh and keystroke timing attacks (again)
Hi all, Over the past 10 years, there has been some discussion and several patches concerning keystroke timing being revealed by the timing of openssh packet network transmission. The issue is that keystroke timing is correlated with the plaintext, and openssh users expect their communications to be kept entirely secret. Despite some excellent ideas and patches, such as Jason Coit's

[Fwd: Re: Defeating Timing Attacks Patch for OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 and 2.9p2]
Nicolas, The timing attack described in the paper by Dawn Song et al. works by examining the timing of keystrokes. Currently OpenSSH sends a packet every time you press a key, thus it is possible to capture the approximate inter-keystroke timing of a user (they found minimal overhead in time from a key press to packet sent). Our patch causes a packet to be sent every 50 ms regardless of whether

Defeating Timing Attacks Patch for OpenSSH 2.9.9p2 and 2.9p2
Hello, In response to the timing analysis attacks presented by Dawn Song et. al. in her paper http://paris.cs.berkeley.edu/~dawnsong/ssh-timing.html we at Silicon Defense developed a patch for openssh to avoid such measures. Timing Analysis Evasion changes were developed by C. Jason Coit and Roel Jonkman of Silicon Defense. These changes cause SSH to send packets unless request not to,

Event handling in R
Dear R-helpers, I've just started playing with getGraphicsEvent() in R, and was wondering if there is a simple way to stop this function waiting for input after a pre-defined time, instead of relying either on a non-NULL value from one of the event handlers or for a user-interrupt for it to halt (as per the R manual). The only way that I've thought of to make this work is using

Rolling with Ruby on *Instant* Rails - "New" Tutorial
Greetings! The original version of this tutorial was written by Curt Hibbs and published on ONLamp.com. It served as my introduction to both Ruby and Rails. Unfortunately, I experienced some frustration working through it. This was due first to the fact that I was using Instant Rails, not Rails, and second, to the fact that Rails itself has grown since Curt wrote the article. Despite my

Ventrilo 2.1.4 under wine - push to talk.
Ventrilo in version 2.1.4 work properly good under wine. I talk with friend without any problems with sound, but there is one with "Push-to-talk" function (hotkey). When frame with ventrilo have lost focus i can't use this function. I spent a lot of time to googled about it and I found program called xbindkeys. I got idea, that I can use this program to send keystroke to ventrilo.

Weird Keystroke Errors
Here is my system Fedora 10 Avant Stellar Keyboard (uses Northgate Omnikey 101 layout) wine 1.1.14, 1.1.15, and 1.1.16 Problem: While in game, doesn't matter which, I've tried this with World of Warcraft, and Counter-strike. I have a problem with keystrokes registering 2 keystrokes behind. Example: While typing in game if I type the word "Anyone" the 'A' and

getGraphicsEvent on X11 and event queuing
Hi R-Devel, I've been working on an oscilloscope project using an Arduino microcontroller board. I found that it's quite easy to get realtime updates, e.g. 30+ frames per second, if I read data from the board in a little Rcpp library. I have to use dev.hold() and dev.flush() to keep the plot from flickering, which restricts me to the "cairo" X11 device. I'd like to be able

Handlers in setGraphicsEventHandlers() can recursively call getGraphicsEvent(). Intended behavior?
Hey all. As in general it's a bad idea to allow an event handler to generate an event, and as comments in the code seem to suggest this isn't the intention either, I was wondering about recursion in getGraphicsEvent(). In main/gevents.c, both doMouseEvent() and doKeybd() have the following line; dd->gettingEvent = FALSE; /* avoid recursive calls */ And they reset it to TRUE

[PATCH] I attach two patches correcting documentation and I have a few questions
I post this to the mailing list, but perhaps is not the good place. I'm not subscribed, so I don't know if I'm going to get any reply, but please, tell me where to send patches. I attach two patches that correctly describes the new support for F11 and F12 in documentation but I have two more question to update documentation accordingly. In doc/syslinux.txt line 515, talking about

getGraphicsEvent() alternative for cairo graphics device?
Hi The current status is that I am keen for people to contribute some testing code (see https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16951) There were also some getGraphicsEvent() changes/fixes suggested by Richard Bodewits (cc'ed), for which I am also seeking test code. doKeybd() gets called in CHelpKeyIn() and NHelpKeyIn() in library/grDevices/src/devWindows.c, where the call is encapsulated in an 'if (dd->gettingEvent)' block. So the only times this code ever calls doKeybd() is when gettingEvent is in fact set. Further, it's called in two locations in X11_eventHelper(), in modules/X11/devX11.c, where the state of gettingEvent seems to be moot

getGraphicsEvent() alternative for cairo graphics device?
Hi all, I'm writing an interactive plotting function for viewing fMRI datasets. Currently, I get keypresses using grDevices::getGraphicsEvent(). Unfortunately getGraphicsEvent() only supports the X11(type="Xlib") graphics device on Unix systems. The Xlib device doesn't support buffering (i.e. dev.hold() and dev.flush()), so redrawing the plots causes lots of flickering. Is

getGraphicsEvent plotting two graph
Hi the list, I need to use getGraphicsEvent to plot two graph. On the following toy example: - the function b is ploting two graph depending on a parameter - the function a is calling b according to some user answers. It is suppose to call b until the user press Return, but it does not. b <- function(x){ dev.off(2);dev.off(3) windows();windows(3,3,xpos=0) dev.set(2);plot(1:x)

keystrokes
Hello Syslinux Team, What actions are _supposed_ to be triggered by each of: [Ctrl-J] [Ctrl-M] in the Syslinux command line in version 6.03-pre20? Are there any differences between CLI and [vesa]menu.c32 regarding these keystroke combinations? Are there any differences in their behaviors when booting with different Syslinux variants (e.g ISOLINUX vs. SYSLINUX vs. PXELINUX)? To be
