if I try to import a raster layer which consists only of NULL values
from grass by using the readRAST6, I get an error message:

readVECT6 and readRAST6 fails with R and GRASS 7 ???
Hello all,
I'm having troubles getting R to load data from GRASS 7. I suspect I have
installed something wrong, but can't figure out what. Any suggestions for
what I could look for or how to trouble shoot this? Thanks in advance for
any help!
After having other issues last week, we have upgraded Debian to the testing
version. The other problems are solved, but now I can't get

sem: negative parameter variances
Dear Spencer and Prof. Fox,
Thank you for your replies. I'll very appreciate, if you have any ideas concerning the problem described below.
First, I'd like to describe the model in brief.
In general I consider a model with three equations.
First one is for annual GRP growth - in general it looks like:
1) GRP growth per capita = G(investment, migration, initial GRP per

calculating variograms (gstat) with large data sets
Dear all,
I am aiming to calculate variograms using variogram() from gstat.
The problem is that some of my data-sets are very large (> 400000 points).
Running the command takes some hours of time and does not give any
error-message.
Nevertheless the result seem not to be appropriate - the first few bins
are ok (up to a distance of about 300) but then it gains lags which are
much larger than

Rmysql - dbWritetable
Dear Rusers,
I am trying to feed my database with data from a file.
But since my file (2010101000.txt) there`s no headers I am facing problem
because the
result data.frame is not separated my columns.
How could I set variables names for each columns in *dbWriteTable*? I have
tried the command below but I don`t know how to fill the *field.type*option.

spgrass6 and aggregation (bis)
Dear all,
I have some additionale question concerning the spgrass6 package.
* When you set a region in GRASS, does the readGRASS6 function in R only
load data contained in the zoomed region or the whole map ?
* When you have a MASK map in grass, does the readGRASS6 function in R only
load data contained inside the MASK area ?
Could this be the problem ?
Thanks,
Jessica

NEED HELP : Association in single DTM
If you consider the definition of a DTM, and that findAssoc() computes associations between words as correlations across documents(!), you will realize that you can't what you want from a single document. Indeed, what kind of an "association" would you even be looking for?

NEED HELP : Association in single DTM
I have free text data in a single text document. I create a corpus, and
then a document term matrix out of it. I can create a word cloud too.
But when I do word association for the same, using "findAssocs(), it always
returns numeric(0).
EX : findAssocs(dtm, "king" ,000000000000000000000.1)
I read on stack overflow that it is because I have a single document.
What is the

R-SIG-Debian Digest, Vol 78, Issue 3
Hi,
Does anyone use spgrass6 with GRASS 7 and R?
The documentation for spgrass6 states it is for GRASS6+, and if I recall
correctly I saw Dr. Bivand mention that it works well with GRASS7. (There
were some threads from 2009 where spgrass6 wasn't working with GRASS7 yet,
but I assumed that information was out of date.)
So I figured I was doing something wrong with the library and package

NEED HELP : Association in single DTM
In general, statistical methodology queries, which seems to be your
concern, are offtopic here. This list is about R programming. Consider
stats.stackexchange.com for statistical queries.
However, the CRAN task view on natural language processing might be useful,
so you may wish to check it:

GRASS raster data processing
Hi,
I just imported two raster maps into R using the SPGRASS6 package, one
containing elevation data and the other containing an erosion index:
Kar_inc <-readRAST6("Incis_Kar", plugin=FALSE)
Kar_dem <- readRAST6("DEM_Kar", plugin=FALSE)
I just wanted to make a xy plot of erosion parameter vs elevation. How does
this work? I don't get how to handle

svm with GRASS GIS
Dear R Community-
I am a new user of R. I am using R with GRASS GIS.
I would apply svm "on" raster data in GRASS.
Basically I have a raster with "areas training" and other three raster (each
represents a band of ASTER satellite image).
My goal is to classify, according to training areas, the 3 raster.
Trying to replicate the guides found on the net, I did the following:

nls: how do you know if the model is significant?
Hi all,
I'm struggling with nls. How do you know if your model is significant? For a
lm, you get a p-value, but you don't get it for a nls. Is there a way to
calculate it?
For a lm I use this:
a<-summary(lm(model ~obs))
f.stat<-a$fstatistic
p.value<-1-pf(f.stat["value"],f.stat["numdf"],f.stat["dendf"])
Is there something similar for a nls?

[LLVMdev] Project proposition: llvm based dsp engine
I have been looking for a while to LLVM as a possible technology to
build a DSP execution engine, providing the runtime flexibility needed
by real-time interactive DSP applications (like patcher languages), or
by plug-in based processors, and in the same moment
the powerful link time optimizations that such a system can provide.
Such a task is daunting for a single developer project like

address (nil), cause 'memory not mapped'
Dear users,
I got this problem and i don't have a clue of what it could be happening...
The context: i'm running a loop in which i extract information from a raster
map (I work with GRASS and R, using spgrass6 package), and rearrange it to
create a matrix. I've tried it with small maps and it works smoothly, but in
large maps I have to resort to saving data in the hard disk regularly
