Combine R2HTML and Rcmd BATCH?
Hi All, I have an R script that spawns output in the form of an HTML page. This is done by the R2HTML package. Now I want to run the same script using Rcmd BATCH. However, it seems that it is not possible to use R2HTML in this case. My script ends with this error message: ######################### Error in dev.print(png, file = AbsGraphFileName, width = Width, height = Height, : can only

Making a table: collapsing across sub-strings
Hi list, I'm currently processing textual data and I would really appreciate some help with one off my problems. I have a set of strings and I want to count how often each of this strings appears in this set. This is not very difficult and can be done as: TB<-table(my_set) plot(TB) However, I also want to collapse across sub-strings. This is, I want a sub-string ss of string S to be

rearrange data: one line per subject, one column per condition
Dear R-list, Is there a way to convert the typical long R data-format to a 1-line per subject format? I have data formatted as: Group subj condition variable 1 1 1 746.36625 2 2 1 1076.152857 1 3 1 1076.152857 2 4 1 657.4263636 1 5 1 854.1266667 2 6 1 1191.676154 1 7 1 1028.175385 1 1 2 46.36625 2 2 2 76.152857 1 3 2 76.152857 2 4 2 57.4263636 1 5 2 54.1266667 2 6 2 191.676154 1 7 2 028.175385

Transferring R results to word prosessors
There has been an incredible number of responses in a short time, with a number of different suggestions. With hindsight, I must admit I have not been quite clear, so additional (somewhat lengthy) explanation is needed. I want to use R in an introductory course on multiple regression (among other things) starting in two weeks time for students of psychology at my University. These students

R Reporting - PDF/HTML mature presentation quality package?
I heartily second Phillipe's response. I just started a new job and the first thing required was a neat stats report for a dataset. I thought I would give R2HTML a try and about 5 minutes after downloading it, I was looking at the first draft of the report. I did have to do a bit of hacking on the graphics, but it was easy and I can now present the report first thing in the morning. Had I

Smoothing a path in 2D
Hello, I'm currently trying to find a method to interpolate or smooth data that represent a trajectory in space. For example, I have an ordered (=time) set of (x,y) tuples which constitute a path in a 2D space. Is there a way using R to interpolate between these points in a way similar to spline interpolation so that I get a smooth path in space? Greetings, Dieter -- Dieter Vanderelst

Generating Reports from R.
Hi, I have a non-interactive R script that currently produces various graphs in png or pdf format. I need to program the script to combine the graphs with various pages of textual information, including some in tabular format, into an output report in pdf or html format. What is the recommended way of doing this? Regards, David Keegan. --

ylim in barplot2 function?
Hi list, I'm using barplot2 form the gplots package to plot a few numbers (I want to add SD bars later). However, I would like the y-axis not to start from 0 but 500. When I add the parameters YLIM, something goes wrong. The graph is not 'cut off' at 500. Instead the bars seems to sink trough the bottom of the graph. Because its a little hard to explain, here is a self-containing

lineplot.CI problem
Hi List, I have a problem plotting data using the lineplot.CI command in the sciplot package. I want to plot the data of 2 experimental cases using different lines (traces). Time is on the X-axis. The tricky thing is that the data collection in the second case started later than for the first case. This is to say: the first n data points for the second case are missing. So far so good. However,

Kruskal's MDS results
Dear List, I'm trying to interpret the results of the Kruskal's Non-metric Multidimensional Scaling algorithm (isoMDS, MASS package). The 'goodness of fit' is reported as "The final stress achieved (in percent)". What does this mean exactly? I've tried to google for an answer but I've not come up with a definitive answer. Sweave and \Sexpr{}
Hi: I am trying to create a dynamic latex table using \Sexpr{} but it's not evaluating it. I also tried the example below without Sweave and also fails. I have also copied the Sweave.sty to my working directory but nothing seems to work. Do I need to have certain package in order to run \Sexpr{}? \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \usepackage{C:/R/R-2.8.1/share/texmf/Sweave} \begin{document}

cumulative frequency plots for factors
Dear list, I have a data frame with a number of events (factor) and the times at which they occurred (continuous variable): event time A 10 A 12 B 15 A 17 C 13 ... Is it possible in R to make a plot against time of the cumulative frequency of occurrence of each event? This would be, a raising line for each factor. Regards, Dieter

how to use \Sexpr{} with sweave
I'm trying to learn Sweave. So far things are going well with the chunks of code identified by << >>= But I'm having trouble with the in-line text use of \Sexpr. Here is a short example .Rnw file: \documentclass[12pt]{article} \usepackage[margin=1.25in]{geometry} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage{Sweave} \begin{document} <<test>>= pnorm(1) @ \Sexpr{2+6}

producing output as *.spo (spss output format)
Dear All I am considering moving from SPSS to R as my stats environment of choice. I have read around and everything looks favourable. There is just one issue on which I have been unable to find information. Many clients ask me to send them output (tables, graphs, etc) as an spss output file (ie .spo). I haven't asked them why, I've just said yes. I know R can produce graphics as

Redirecting print output
I see a rich set of graphic device functions to redirect that output. Are there commands to redirect text as well. I have a set of functions that execute many linear regression tests serially and I want to capture this in a file for printing. Thanks, Stan Hopkins [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

How to generate a report with graphics and tables?
Hello R-Users, I have some data sets which change on a daily bases. So far I have imported these sets into R, done all my evaluations resulting in a couple of plots, charts and tables of numbers which I copy&pasted via clipboard into Powerpoint. The procedure is always the same and I wonder, whether there is no easier way for doing so. Is there some type of "report generator"

Apparent conflict between \Sexpr in Sweave and R2HTML
I have come across an apparent bug in the operation of Sweave. If I load the package R2HTML then execution of \Sexpr{} in an *.Rnw file no longer works. The \Sexpr{} code is simply written to the *.tex file. Below are my *.Rnw file, commands, and output. The Sweave file, Sweave-test-1_short.Rnw: % -*- mode: noweb; noweb-default-code-mode: R-mode; -*- \documentclass{article} \title{A Test

odfWeave \Sexpr
Dear All, Using odfWeave is working fine for me using code chunks <<...>>= ... @ But the inline \Sexpr{date()} is not evaluated and returns again \Sexpr{date()} instead of "Thu Apr 17 18:15:47 2008". What might be the reason for that, what do I have to look for? I'm using Windows XP, R 2.6.1, odfWeave_0.7.3 and OpenOffice 2.4. Session Info: R version 2.6.1

Package 'R2HTML'
I recently learnt how to use Sweave which is a wonderful tool After which i also tried to use R2HTML as it would allow many of my colleagues who dont use latex to be able to use and edit my work. I was unable to make it work and couldnt find a way to implement it. I got some errors. I wonder if you could help me with it i have a windows 2000 OS and the version of R is "R version 1.9.1,

Textual IR value names
I like my LLVM IR text to have nice value names, e.g. %add = add ... %mul = mul ... And this all works well if the build has asserts enabled. If the build does not have asserts enabled, it's not so nice: %1 = add ... %2 = mul ... I understand the use for obfuscating names, but the choice to make this dependent on whether or not asserts are enabled seems odd to me. At the very least
