LiteSpeed
Yo Zed,
Just curious -- what do you think of the LiteSpeed
server? Is it better than Lighty? Does it (gasp!) also
serve Rails apps like Mongrel? I think I read that
LiteSpeed doesn''t have proxying support.
Thanks,
Joe

type in daisy
Hi,
I'm a PhD student and I want to use the function 'daisy' from the
package 'cluster' to compute dissimilarities.
My variables are of mixed types so I use the argument 'stand' in daisy
to define the type of my variables.
I have the following error message :

Sv: lme problem ?
Dear Douglas Bates. I just downloaded the compiled version (I'm a poor Windows devil, not yet having found the time to move to a more advanced platform...) from NT- the files are dated 30.5-1999 so they are not old - and the problem persisted....wonder what I did wrong ?

Well after trying to fix the assign commands in version 3.1.7 of your nlme package
I still cannot get the plot functions to work. Basically I have no other packages installed (apart from those provided with R) so nlme is the first.

Renaming a computer on a Samba domain
We shift computers around a lot, and therefore need to rename several
whenever we get new batches of systems in.
Tried simply renaming a system while on the domain, but got an "access
denied" error. I WAS able to disjoin the domain, remove the LDAP entry
for the computer, log in as a local administrator, rename the computer,
and rejoin the domain a different computer name.
However,

writing a categorical var. with condition
Hello,
I want to create a new variable which includes 4 age categories in this way:
if (age>=12 && age<32) age1==1
if (age>=32 && age<52) age1==2
if (age>=52 && age<72) age1==3
if (age>=72 && age<100) age1==4
but I get the results only for the first observation.
how can I apply this condition to all observations?
Thanks in advance,

Looking for simpler solution to probabilistic question
Hi
I have two processes which take with a certain probability (p1 and p2) x
number of years to complete (age1 and age2). As soon as thge first
process is completed, the second one begins. I want to calculate the
time it takes for the both processes to be completed.
I have the following script which gives me the answer, butI think there
must be a more elegant way of doing the calculations
