My First Function: cryptic error message
Dear List, My first R function is a rip-off bagging algorithm from pg. 138 of Everitt and Hothorn's "Handbook of Statistical Analyses using R" (HSAUR). I'm using recursive partitioning to develop a set of useful variables in diagnosing ADHD. I'm running this in ESS in XEmacs 21.4.19, R 2.4.1 on Slackware Linux 11.0 with a 2.6 kernel. This is almost an entire script,

Ld64.lld cannot find Foundation framework
Thanks for your reply. Two questions: 1). Will ld64.lld be fixed in LLVM v11.0 and when is this likely to be? 2). You mention Apple’s linker, by which I assume you mean GNU’s ld. Is it possible to get a binary version of ld (preferably that does not use other things from /usr/bin)? Thanks > On 7 May 2020, at 12:26, James Y Knight <jyknight at google.com> wrote: > > The MachO

Ld64.lld cannot find Foundation framework
James, many thanks. Is there any linker available for Macs that has a freely available binary version? I thought maybe that GNU’s linker might fit the bill? I cannot use Apple’s linker from /usr/bin/ as it is not allowed to make external calls from a sandboxed app. Hence my interest in the LLVM lld. > On 7 May 2020, at 19:21, James Y Knight <jyknight at google.com> wrote: > > On

Missing In PATH
I'm a newb to linux so please be patient. Running CentOS 4. Using Bash. I'm not sure what happened, but now for some reason /sbin, /usr/sbin, and /usr/local/sbin are all missing from the path. I am su'd as root. I've tried several different methods to put this back including: PATH="/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/hom

Problem with X tunneling, su, and xauth
Hi all. I'm trying to use ssh to connect from a PC (using TerraTerm with the ssh add-in) to a Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 box (both running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2) to establish a session for X-forwarding. Everything works great, until I use "su" to change to another account (such as root). The su'd user doesn't seem to be able to authenticate properly to use the X-tunnel. I did a

Power for Linear Wald Test
Dear R-Helpers, I'm searching for an R package that will produce power analyses for linear Wald tests. I have conducted a thorough analysis and come up with a pile of negative results (I'm the King, baby). I found asypow, which applies to likelihood ratio tests. However, we generally have the power to do Wald tests, I just need to prove it so that we can publish it ;) If this is a

Adjusting Yaxis (ylim) limits on a plotMeans(DV, IV1, IV2, error.bars="se")
Hello everyone, I have tried to look for this everywhere and so far have no luck. I have a plotMeans(DV, IV1, IV2, error.bars="se") graph that plots my data (DV-continuous, IVs are factors, IV1 - two levels, IV2-four levels). I am trying to increase a scale of my y-axis (to be consistent with my other graphs), but unfortunately nothing works with "plotMeans" function, which

DTMF is being MUTED by asterisk to/from SIP channels from SIP or ZAP
I am having a problem trying to do inband DTMF passthru via asterisk. My setup: PSTN gateway MAXTNT v11.0 SIP (T1 PRI/NT2) Asterisk HEAD or v1.0 makes no difference (I am using HEAD mostly) 12/10/04 and 01/17/05 (no difference) CAC ABII-T100P to/from analog lines to/from asterisk BTW, I have used a ABI and it works just like the ABII with asterisk. RE: Samba-3.0.0 on OpenBSD-3.4
It Lives! I dl'd the current contents of: pserver.samba.org/pub/unpacked/samba_3_0/source ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/snapshots/i386 Upgraded my obsd34 box; Samba compiled, loaded, joined the Domain, and testparm'd okay. I don't know if the problem was the samba source or OpenBSD's code. Don't really care, as long as it's up. Here's my configure mods...I put it in

openssh-2.1.0 and AFS
Hi! I've noticed that openssh always does a do_setpag() if compiled with AFS-support no matter which authentication method is used. Maybe I'm missing something but shouldn't it only get a pag, if AFS-token-passing is used? If password authentication is used, an AFS-pam-module (or the authenticate function on AIX) will do the job, otherwise, no token can be obtained and therefore no

BackupPc_nightly crashing with Perl chdir errors
Hi all. I have been reading the list archives and can't seem to find anything that relates to these errors. BackupPC_nightly fails to delete any files, and reports the pool and cpool at zero size. The nightly run as currently configured should be deleting a ton of files (only one hardlink) but it deletes nothing, and so the drive is now 100% and staying there. I have adjusted the conf

How to prevent root from managing/disabling SELinux
At work I'm used to tools like eTrust Access Control (aka SEOS). eTrust takes away the ability to manage the eTrust config from root and puts it in the hands of "security admin". So there's a good separation of duties; security admin control the security ruleset, but are limited by the OS permissions (so even if they granted themselves permission to modify /etc/shadow, the

Since Centos 4.3 comes with Thunderbird 1.0.8, I downloaded the tar of 1.5.0.4 fro mozilla and tried to figure out what to do with it. per http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/releases/1.5.0.4.html#install I was just suppose to copy the files.... In the end I put it in /usr/lib/thunderbird I am NOT a Linux guy so could not figure out how to properly replace /usr/lib/thunderbird-1.0.8 and
