variable type assignment in daisy
Dear Rhelp,   I did a daisy on 5 lifestyle variables, 3 of which were nominal and 2 were ordinal and assigned types “nominal” and “ordinal” for the variables, respectively.  I got an output indicating their types as “I” for interval(?). Doing it on the Rdata example “flower” gave the same types in the output as the types they were assigned to.  Why is this so? Below are the codes and outputs.

magical disappearing background processes!
Hi all, I''ve been having trouble for a long time with backgroundrb processes that suddenly vanish without a trace. What happens is that at some point I discover that all the backgroundrb processes are suddenly gone. Nothing special is seen in any of the log files. If in [global] <guest ok = yes> why do I get an authe ntication sc reen when accessing from NT box?
To force guest access to a share, you need both guest ok = yes guest only = yes Otherwise it will try and authenticate you first before dropping you to guest. Over-constrained? gamma mixtures using R: mix{mixdist}
Dear R-help, my aim is to fit a constrained 2 component gamma mixture using mix within package mixdist. The constraints being fixing both of the means and both of the sigmas. Character coerced to factor and I cannot get it back
Something probably obivous but I don't see it. I needed to find the first 1 or two digits of some 5 and 6 digit numbers since they identified research sites while the rest of the number was the plot id. I converted the numbers to characters, got the first 1 or 2 characters as appropriate and went to add the new vector to the data.frame. For some reason R is insisting on turning the

[Bridge] Problem with startup script

I'm resending this bug report with a new example. As seen below, cut.dendrogram gives an error message for some heights, but not for others and with some datasets adn not others. I can't see why. weighting variables using Gower with DAISY
Hello, I am running DAISY in R and using the GOWER metric since I am working with mixed variables. I am wondering if there is a way to weight the different variables. I see that there is a weight value for Gower but do not know if this is how to weight the diffrent variables with different weighting values. want to count 2 NULLS as disimilar with DIANA/DAISY/GOWER
I am using DIANA/DAISY/GOWER. Some of my categorical data include NULLS. When assessing disimilarity, these NULLS are considered similar. I do not want these NULLS to contribute towards similarity. Instead is there a way for these NULLS to each be considered different so as to contribute to disimiliarity and not simillarity?
