registration density profiles : FDA
Hello,
I would like to use fda library to compare sampled curves that
are density profiles. But I encounter some problems to register my data :
I know that I must use a registration function to align functions in
order to have important features found in each curve occur at roughly
the same argument value, prior to do subsequent analysis ( PCA and
cluster analysis). But I do not

Problem building package for R 2.10.0 on Mac OS X
Hi
I have submitted a package (rioja) to CRAN. It checks OK for all R versions and OS's except r-release-macosx-ix86 where it fails when checking the examples. Specifically, it fails because R can't find the package vegan which is needed in a function. Here is the snippet from the check results:

Conflict RGtk tcltk
Hi everybody,
I'm making an application using the package tcltk. Everything goes fine until I
load the package RGtk. The interface doesn't work anymore. Is there any conflict
between these packages? I thought about unloading the package RGtk but I don't
know how to do that.
Thanks,

Reducing the FPR (false positive rate)
Hello R-USERS,
I think some people didn't understand my question. What I want is to
use the training set to minimize the FALSE POSITIVE RATE.
I think it is possible. I sacrifice ACCURACY to have less FALSE
POSITIVES. I don't want a classifier result with 5% of FPR and, for
example, 93% of ACCURACY. I want a 1% FPR sacrificing the 93% ACCURACY.
Do you know how can I do this? I really

Plot of set
I am in the situation where I have to make a two-dimential plot of a set. If I simplify my data it would be something along the lines of wanting to plot {x,y| x^2+y^2 < = 1}.
I am aware of the contour and persp plot, but cannot figure out how to convert one of those to draw the set. I have tried to google different ways of plotting in R but have not been able to find a method through that

How to fix false positve rates?
Dear R-users,
I have a set of 12000 image samples. I can divide this set into two
categories: training and testing. I need to classify the test set into
a two qualitative outputs: true or false for some characteristic.
To do the classification I'm using the packages SVM in e1071 library
and LDA in the MASS library. However, I'm with a great number of FALSE
POSITIVE CASES in both

heatmap on pre-established hclust output?
Hi,
Can someone please guide me towards how to produce "heatmap" output from the
output of "hclust" run prior to the actual "heatmap" call? I have some
rather lengthy clustering going on and tweeking the visual output
with "heatmap" recalculating the clustering every time is not feasible.
Thanks, Joh

ranges and contiguity checking
Hi All,
I am interfacing to some C libraries (hdf5) and I have methods defined for
'[', these methods do hyperslab selection, however, currently I am
limiting slab selection to contiguous blocks, i.e., things defined like:
i:(i+k). I don't do any contiguity checking at this point, I just grab the
max and min of the range and them potentially do an in-memory subselection
which is what

Weighted averaging partial least squares regression
Hello,
is it possible in R to calculate a Weighted averaging partial least
squares regression? I'm not firm in statistics and didn't found anything
about weighted averaging in combination with PLS in the help archives.
Or is it possible to develop a workaround with the pls-package?
thanks for help in advance

constrained clustering
Having searched CRAN and the mailing list archives, I'm pretty sure
there is no function in R that implements constrained clustering.
Before I start writing my own, have I overlooked something?

Cannot print PDF-Files...
Hi,
I have a network with a Server running 3.0.14 (Debian sarge), which is
doing quite fine as a PDC and as a printer server (using cups). Almost.
Printing is working, I can print Windows test pages, I can print
from several applications, including MS office. But I cannot print
over the network from Acrobat Reader, not at all. If a network
printer is selected and used, than _nothing_ happens,

upgrade problems...
Hi all,
I have done a major upgrade, first I have bought a Digium TDM400P (TDM02B)
2-Port FXO to replace x100p cards, than moved from an old version Asterisk
to a new centos 4 box, compiled asterisk from Asterisk CVS-HEAD built on

Seems that my iaxy is now "incompatible" with the TDM400P.
When I receive a call from the TDM02B, the caller can't hear my voice (I

Samba 3.0, LDAP, OUs and how to add machine accounts
Hello,
I have a Samba 3.0/LDAP setup with
| ldap machine suffix = ou=Computers
but as this is for a school, I decided to separate teachers and scholars
computers into different sub-OUs for my own mental sanity. So in LDAP it
looks like:
| dn: uid=pc116$,ou=Schueler,ou=Computers,dc=lise-meitner,dc=at
or
| dn: uid=biblio1$,ou=Lehrer,ou=Computers,dc=lise-meitner,dc=at
This works absolutely

Cisco 7960 SIP Images
What you and so may others on this lise seem to forget is that Cisco is a company offering bsuiness products for businesses. Businesses typically pay by check and wire transfer, especially for items such as this.
If you want home-user pay-by-credit-card service, buy products from Belkin's home line and similar.
Oh...what's that? None of these cheesy Stocked-at-Costco hardware

[3.0, LDAP] smbpasswd fails in adding new accounts
Hello,
I recently switched an environment from Samba 2.x to 3.0 without any
major problems. LDAP database was converted and everything worked fine,
_including_ chaning passwords with smbpasswd.
However, I now had to create a new account, which failed. I created an
LDAP entry first, because I use LDAP for Unix-Authentification as well.
Afterwards, I wanted to add the Samba-specific attributes
