Query regarding linking R with Matlab
Thank you sir for your prompt reply.
Currently i am stuck at point where I need to call an available Matlab program from an R 2.4.0 interface. How can I do this? I have downloaded the R.matlab file and also the manual in pdf. But still i am not able to get through the problem. I will be grateful to you if you can elaborate me on this.
Awaiting your reply,

Problem with R interface termination
Dear Sir,
The R interface that i am currently using is R 2.4.1( in Win XP). I am not able to terminate the program by giving the q() command. Each time I pass this command,
> q()
Error in .Last() : could not find function "finalizeSession"
this error creeps in and it neither allows me to save my workspace nor come out of R. Therefore, whenever this happens, I am forced to end the

Request regarding cluster package
Dear Mr. Bengtsson,
I see that there is a package exclusively for clustering data, named as "Cluster Package" in R library. It has some clustering algorithms implemented.
Can you tell me how to implement the CLARA and PAM functions from that package for my data?

How to use Rattle for Data mining through R?
Dear Mr. Bengtsson,
Now i am able to work with R-Matlab interface comfortably. Thanks to you. Recently, I came to know that R can be used for data mining as well. I went through the following site for this :
http://rattle.togaware.com/
As they have suggested, I have also installed the two packages:

Dbscan Clustering Feature Question
Hello list. My apologies if this topic has been discussed before on the
list but I was unable to find it. I'm working on a way to cluster PCAP
files according to the events recorded within them. I've decided to use
Bro-IDS for feature extraction. I am looking at dbscan within the FPC
library to accomplish my goal.
Is it possible to feed a data frame to dbscan with more than two columns

R and DBSCAN
Hello everyone,
When looking for information about clustering of spatial data in R I was
directed towards DBSCAN. I've read some docs about it and theb new
questions have arisen.
DBSCAN requires some parameters, one of them is "distance". As my data
are three dimensional, longitude, latitude and temperature, which
"distance" should I use? which dimension is related to

T1 Integrator Birch
I'm thinking about replacing my Birch T1 integrator with an Asterisk box.
The Integrator has 12 voice & 768k data, so the Asterisk box would
become a router & PBX.
Has anyone done anything similar, what experiences have you seen &/or
read about.
TIA

Need help in multi-dimensional clustering
Hi All ,
For an academic project I am trying to do the following
Step 1 ) Draw and cluster a N ( lets say 3 ) column dataset by dbscan
algorithm using R-project’s fpc package ( let say they are "training clusters" ) ,
Using dbscan as number of clusters are not know before hand
Step 2 ) Once that is done i want to spread some new
data points in the

replace NA with factor class
Dear all,
I have a tree data matrix. For some trees I lack info about tree species,
but I want to set them to be spruce. For some reason the tree species names
on the remaining (non-NA) rows are changed into numbers (that I do not
recognise).
I guess that ifelse is not the correct function to use, but I have not
found any better one in my searches.
Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Tord

Traversing KD-tree (or equivalent) for radius-based search
Hi,
I'm trying to implement the DBSCAN algorithm to get O(N*LogN) complexity
and I'd need a spatial tree of some sort (kd,r,bd..), or a function that
computes radius-based search on spatial data, i.e. given a radius eps
finds ALL the points which fall in the corresponding hypersphere
centered on the current examined point. Is there a package with this
features?
So far I found RANN

can not connect to the shared printer
Hi there,
I'm learning Samba and I really appreciate somebody out there can help
me out. I'm using RedHat advanced server and a windows 2000. I created a
workgroup on samba and only samba machine and win2k machine are members.
I shared the printer attached to the Linux. From win2k PC, I can see the
workgroup, but I can not find the samba host from the workgroup, nor
does the printer.

if problem in function
Dear all,
I have written a function for calculating the volume of a tree (=trad) or
snag (=h?gst).
The included volume regreesion model includes ten parameter values, which
are tree species specific.
bj?rk.formh?jd.pars is an object which includes the parameter values
(parameter set) for birch (=bj?rk).
There is one row per tree in the data object.
