Re : A smal fitting problem...
May be you are also not familiar with statistic. the solution of
min \sum_{i=1}^{n} (y_{i}-b)^{2} is the mean. So the solution is
b<-mean(y)

stat question - not R question so ignore if not interested
If do a scattrplot of data ( x and y ) and there are two clouds of
points. One cloud is in the left
bottom corner of the plot and the other cloud is in the upper right.
If I fit a regression line to this data ( or equivalently , calculate a
correlation ), then obviously, it is going to seem like
x and y are related because a line has to be connected between the 2
clouds. But, there must be a

Hi,
We have Ubuntu 14.04.3 server and Samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu. Windows and Mac Os X clients connect this server. Some Os X users sometimes report "error code -43" when file copying to server.
What can cause the problem?

pbinom( ) function (PR#8700)
Full_Name: Chanseok Park
Version: R 2.2.1
OS: RedHat EL4
Submission from: (NULL) (130.127.112.89)
pbinom(any negative value, size, prob) should be zero.
But I got the following results.
I mean, if a negative value is close to zero, then pbinom() calculate
pbinom(0, size, prob). dbinom() also behaves similarly.
> pbinom( -2.220446e-22, 3,.1)
[1] 0.729

digamma with negative arguments (PR#6626)
Full_Name: Chanseok Park
Version: 1.8.1
OS: linux-gnu
Submission from: (NULL) (130.127.112.183)
digamma with any negative value does not give a right answer.
It gives -1.797693e+308 for any negative arguments.
For example, digamma(-1.1) gives -1.797693e+308.
The right answer should be 10.15416
This bug can be easily fixed by using the following digamma identity.
digamma(x) = digamma(1-x) -

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
The server expects TLS but you didnt set tls.
Read :
https://www.samba.org/samba/history/samba-4.2.10.html
basicly its now : Default: ldap server require strong auth = yes
You can try to add: ldap server require strong auth = no
But i do advice to setup the TLS parameters and make everything more secure.
Please read these links, MS change some things in GPO also.

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Hello,
I think I really need some help on this.
Since Samba 4.2.11 upgrade my Windows 10 clients are unable to synchronize group
policies. I have asked about this already here
<https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-April/199226.html>. Now I
re-investigate the issue with Windows 10 1607 update and still face the same
issue which prevents me from rolling out this configuration in

How to get curve information from a gam model
I'm using library(mgcv)
I did a gam regression like this
model <- gam(formula = y ~ s(x), family="binomial")
Now I'd like to get 2 vectors x and z (with z=s(x)), so that I can implement
the model outside R. How can I do this?
Thanks.

not R question : alternative to logistic regression
I was just curious if anyone knew of an alternative model to logistic regression where the probabilities seems pretty linear to the predictor rather than having that S shape that probit and logit assume.
Maybe there is there some kind of other GLM that could accomplish that. Any textbook references or suggestions
are appreciated. I have most of the texts but if someone knows of a text that talks

Doubts regarding classifiers available.
Hi,
I am a newbie working on tc tool, i want to know whether we have the
following classifiers available
(1) source MAC address.
(2) destination MAC address.
(3) IEEE 802.1D user priority.
(4) Ethertype (IEEE 802.3, 1998 Length/Type Field).
Can any one help me in finding the help for the above classifiers.
