mgcv in R-2.4.0.alpha
Hola! I am sending this to the list since emails from me to Simon Wood has bounced earlier. I get: > library(tsDyn) Loading required package: mgcv Erro en `parent.env<-`(`*tmp*`, value = NULL) : use of NULL environment is defunct Error: package 'mgcv' could not be loaded > library(mgcv) Erro en `parent.env<-`(`*tmp*`, value = NULL) : use of NULL environment

package "plotrix"
I installed package plotrix because reading its vignette it looks like it can help me solve a "legend" problem. The package instaleed correctly on my Mac OS/X 10.5.8 But I cannot reproduce the examples centered on function "lgendg". > library(plotrix) > plot(0.5,0.5,xlim=c(0,1),ylim=c(0,1),type="n", + main="Test of grouped legend function") >

rails on emacs - need a working .emacs sample
I would like to hear from some one who has ecb, multiple modes with ruby mode + html mode, rails mode all working together and playing well. I had ecb working with Ruby syntax highlighting. That was a no-brainer since I just had to apt-get them on my Debian Sarge box. It got a bit more comlex after I got most of the .el files in the articles http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/emacs/RubyOnRails

mapping of colornames into hsv: half way done
Ok, now we have the mapping of color names to color codes (see below) and conversion to rgb (something like Ben Bolker's function), but how to convert rgb to hsv? Thanks to Brian Ripley, Peter Dalgaard and Ben Bolker Details below Regards Jens etc/colors.big maps 455 names to rgb in S syntax etc/rgb.txt maps 657 names to rgb in C syntax, but unlike colors() it has mixed upper and

Analyzing three-way contingency tables with many zero cells
Hi all, I am trying to analyze the following data. The first three columns are categorical variables (colors of three traits for a peripatus species) and the last column the count of individuals in each three-way classification. I wish to test if the three traits vary independently or if they are correlated across individuals, i.e. - this is a basic three way contingency table question.

multiple hypothesis testing
Dear all, Myself Vijaykumar Muley working as senior research fellow. By training I am a computational biologist with not a strong knowledge of statistics. I have done some analysis which is explained as follows, I have 10340 (X) profiles of binary vectors with same length(N=845), I will call then "gene profiles" for example... v1 v2 v3 v4.....vN a 1 0 1 0 1 b 0
