R Plots for Recurrent Events - Suggestions are needed
Hi, I am wondering if there is a simple way to plot MCF(mean cumulative function) for recurrent events in R? MCF (http://www.weibull.com/hotwire/issue57/relbasics57.htm) And do you have some other recommendation in visualize recurrent events? I did some research online. Some people use ggplot2 to plot MCF, but it requires some additional coding. http://user2010.org/slides/Shentu.pdf Your help

using if statment and loops to create data layout of recurrent events
Hi , I have a data set with recurrence time (up to four) of myocardial infarction (MI). recurrent events
Hello, I have a cohort with approx 1,200 patients at the ages of 30-65 that had their first myocardial infarction during 1992: · They were in a follow up until 2005. · About 400 of them died during this period of time (right censored) · Each one of them had up to 4 mi recurrent events. I am using the semi-parametric model in order to assess the relationship of

General help on sample size based on recurrent events
Hello, I have a general help question that some of you might be able able to help. I would like to design a study (a two group comparison) based on reduction on events(say hospital admissions). In a previous study hospital admission rate of 140 admissions per 72 patients (over a 4 month period) has been observed. That is rate is about 1.9. In order to see the admission rate reduction of 50% over

Simulation of recurrent events
I'd like to program a simulation of recurrent events to test few models in R. Is there anybody who has experience of that and could give me advice? Your help is greatly appreciated! R error using Survr function with gcmrec
Would someone be able to help with this question? I'm using the Gcmrec, Survrec, and Design packages to do a power analysis on simulated data. I'm receiving an error after using the Survr function that all data must have a censoring time even after using the gcmrec function: newdata<-addCenTime(olddata). My program is below. I'd greatly appreciate any help!

Coxph frailty model counting process error X matrix deemed singular
Hello, I am currently trying to simulate data and analyze it using the frailty option in the coxph function. I am working with recurrent event data, using counting process notation. Occasionally, (about 1 in every 100 simulations) I get the following warning: Error in coxph(Surv(start, end, censorind) ~ binary + uniform + frailty(subject, : X matrix deemed to be singular; variable 2 My

Survival Analysis
Hello, I have few questions about recurring events. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can assist me. I have data that consist of approx 1,100 Consecutive patients released from hospital after first Myocardial infarction (MI). They were followed for 13 years. Recurrent MI and unstable angina pectoris (UAP) leading to hospitalization were recorded (within-subject range: 0-4 for recurrent MI;

new to latex to pdf
Dear All, I'm trying to teach myself latex along with the latex function in Hmisc and have hit a roadblock that I can't seem to get around. I'd greatly appreciate any pointers. I'm running R 2.6.0 on Windows XP and have Miktex 2.7 installed. I've reproduced the code below, taken from Frank Harrell's latexsummary introduction. My question relates to getting a pdf

recurrent event data generation in r
Dear R users, Kindly help me to look into the following problem. I have a dataset like the following dat <- data.frame(id = seq(1:5), trt=c(0,0,1,1,1),tid=c(0,0,0,0,0),                   ntid=c(0,0,0,0,0)) I want to create waiting times using   B <- rexp(1) f1 <- (1/phi)+ ntid; f2 <- abs(1+phi*delta*tid*exp(beta*trt)) f3 <- phi*delta*exp(beta*trt) wait <-

actuarial prevalence plots
Hi all, I am trying to produce a series of plots showing the prevalence of a condition, which is subject to censoring. In most cases the condition is temporary and resolves with time. I would like to use the method of Pepe et al Stat Med 1991; 413-421 - essentially the prevalence is the Kaplan-Meier prob[having the condition at time t] - KM prob[recovery by time t] (also divided by 1-KM[death by

control of scat1d tick color in plot.Predict?
Hi All, I have a quick question about using plot.Predict now that the rms package uses lattice. I'd like to add tick marks along the regression line, which is given by data=llist(variablename) in the plot call. The ticks show up fine, but I'd like to alter the color. I know the ticks are produced by scat1d, but after spending a fair bit of time going through documentation, it still

Survr error
I am trying to analyse recurrent failure times using survfitr from the survrec package. To do this, I need to "Create a survival recurrent object" using Survr. But, when I do this, I get an error "Error in Survr(r1d[, 1], r1d[, 5], r1d[, 6]) : data doesn't match". Here, r1d[,1] is the identifier for each case, r1d[,5] is the time of recurrence, r1d[,6] is the status
