Edge Rails - same code, different issues on mac and windows
Trying to get an app up and running with Edge Rails, and I''ve run into different issues on Mac and Windows with the exact same code. It''s similar to the issue posted in the previous RJS/Edge Rails thread, but I didn''t see any answers in there (maybe I missed the real answer?) Both console/error outputs listed below: I can''t even get WEBrick to start on

Newbie: Unable to run new controller.
I''m only just learning to use Rails, but this seems like something very out of my control. I used GEM to download and install Rails, then created a new application and a controller and started the WEBrick server. When I try to access the new controller "Test" using http://localhost:3000/test/ I get a "Not Found" error and a great deal of output from the server

Rails failure after upgrade to 1.1.2
Greetings, I tried upgrading Rails to 1.1.2 and now nothing is really working. In connection to the Rails upgrade I upgraded my Ruby version to 1.9.0. I also upgraded all my gem installs. Wrong number of arguments (1 for 0) on routes.rb
Hi, I''m baffled by this error. I need a simple controller to send e-mails, so first I thought about just creating the controller manually (without using script/generate), since that didn''t seem to work, I created a dummy table in my DB and used the usual procedure to generate scaffold code. Then I modified the controller to have only two methods, send and compose: class

Unable to follow basic RoR tutorial (Win32)
I have just set up RoR to find out for myself if this tool is stable enough to actually be used yet. Anyhow, I started by going to the RubyOnRails website and following the instructions to install the platform on my Windows 2000 PC. "Get Ruby on Rails in no time" "We recommend Ruby 1.8.4 for use with Rails." So... I downloaded 1.8.4 and installed: C:\>ruby -v ruby

Should Perl talk to Rails via LWP
Hi folks, I need your opinions on a basic design issue. I''ve seen the light of RoR and have replaced my Perl (DBI/CGI) based web server <-> RDBMS communication with RoR, but I still have a whole host of users (other servers/OS''s etc) out there wanting to talk to my RDBMS and they only talk Perl. Also they don''t want to talk Perl/DBI directly (they are not allowed

help debugging an error
Hi, I''ve started getting an error I can''t debug. The error doesn''t generate anything in my development log. A breakpoint set right at the beggining of the controller method does not get triggered. It happens on a form submission. I can make changes to the object model from with the console, but not on this form submission. I thought maybe it was routing, because I have

state_models plugin and file_column?
I was looking at Kyle Mawell''s extremely nifty-looking StateModels plugin http://www.kylemaxwell.com/articles/2006/02/06/fun-with-single-table-inheritance and before I go down the road with it, I was wondering if anyone has used it with file_column. The way file_column deals with an uploaded file -- by storing it to the filesystem in a path that employs the model name and id --
